    • Nets fourth straight quality start
Thorpe didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Minnesota in the second game of a doubleheader, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk through six innings. He struck out one.

Advice: Thorpe was cruising Wednesday, holding the Twins to just one hit through five scoreless innings. However, the rookie right-hander would give up back-to-back homers to Brooks Lee and Carlos Correa in the sixth, allowing Minnesota to tie the game 2-2. Still, it was another solid outing from Thorpe -- he's now delivered four straight quality starts, allowing just five runs over 24.1 innings in that span. Overall, Thorpe is 3-1 with a 3.58 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 19:15 K:BB through his first six starts (32.2 innings). He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Royals in his next outing following the All-Star break. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago
    • Back in action
Heim (neck) will start at catcher and bat seventh Wednesday versus the Angels.

Advice: Neck stiffness caused Heim to be scratched from Texas' lineup ahead of Tuesday's contest, but he seems to be feeling well enough to return behind the plate Wednesday. The 29-year-old has slashed .360/.346/.600 with a homer and three RBI since the beginning of July. Rotowire.com Today, 3:37 pm

    • Jorge Soler (illness) remains out of Giants lineup
Jorge Soler (illness) remains out of the Giants’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s showdown against the Blue Jays.

Advice: It’s the second straight game that the 32-year-old slugger has missed while feeling a bit under the weather. Mike Yastrzemski will start in his place in right field and will bat seventh for the Giants against Jays’ right-hander Chris Bassitt on Wednesday evening in San Francisco. Rotoworld Today, 3:19 pm

    • Sitting again Wednesday
Soler (illness) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Soler was scratched from Tuesday's starting nine due to an illness and will remain on the bench again for Wednesday's contest. Patrick Bailey will rest his legs as San Francisco's designated hitter while Curt Casali receives a start behind the plate. Rotowire.com Today, 3:16 pm

    • Might return without rehab games
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Stanton (hamstring) could skip a rehab assignment and return from the 10-day injured list shortly after the All-Star break, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Stanton did some running Tuesday and has been reincorporating baseball activities into his training regimen of late as he works his way back from a strained left hamstring. He'll need to do some more ramping up before the Yankees are confident that he's ready for game action, but bypassing a rehab assignment would shorten the length of his absence a bit. • Giancarlo Stanton may not need rehab assignment
Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) may not need a minor league rehab assignment before returning from the injured list.

Advice: Boone noted that Staton could be ready to go immediately following the All-Star break, or shortly afterwards. The 34-year-old slugger had been sidelined since June 23 due to a mild left hamstring strain. Before landing on the injured list, he had been hitting .246/.302/.492 with 18 homers and 45 RBI through his first 69 contests. Rotoworld Today, 1:47 pm

    • Salvador Perez goes 2-for-4, homers in victory
Salvador Perez contributed a solo homer and an RBI single as the Royals bested the Cardinals 6-4 in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Advice: Perez’s 15th homer broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth, and he later added an insurance run in the eighth. Perez caught and Freddy Fermin DH’d in the first game today, so one imagines they’ll switch roles in the nightcap. Rotoworld Today, 1:33 pm

    • Nolan Arenado goes 2-for-4, homers in loss
Nolan Arenado went 2-for-4 with a homer in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Royals.

Advice: Arenado’s xwOBA hasn’t budged, but he does have 10 hits in his last five games. Every time Arenado has had a stretch like this, it’s resulted in many people saying “he’s back,” and every time, it seems to be followed by a 2-for-20 stretch. There’s just nothing very encouraging in his exit velocity numbers, but there is the fact that Arenado doesn’t need great exit velocity to do what he does best; he just needs to yank 360-foot flyballs down the line. • Resting against southpaw
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: After starting against right-handed pitchers in each of the past three games, O'Hearn will head to the bench Wednesday while southpaw Shota Imanaga takes the hill for the Cubs. With O'Hearn receiving the day off, Adley Rutschman will cede catching duties to James McCann and occupy O'Hearn's usual spot in the lineup at designated hitter. Rotowire.com Today, 12:28 pm
