    • Notches 12th save
Scott struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his 12th save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Phillies.

Advice: The southpaw delivered his eighth straight scoreless appearance on 12 pitches (eight strikes), and Scott has racked up four saves in four trips to the mound over the last week. The 29-year-old closer has put his shaky start to 2024 firmly behind him, and he sports a 1.50 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 38:23 K:BB through 36 innings while converting 12 of 14 save chances. • Labors in loss
Gray (9-5) took the loss against the Reds on Saturday, allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk with six strikeouts over 4.1 innings.

Advice: Gray allowed two runs in the third inning and then endured a rough fifth frame, loading the bases and yielding a run on an error by Nolan Arenado. He was pulled after the error at 92 pitches, and each of the three inherited runners came around to score before the end of the frame. Gray generated 14 swinging strikes on 92 pitches but failed to complete five innings for just the second time in 15 starts this season. On the year, the 34-year-old owns a stellar 2.98 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 109:23 K:BB over 87.2 innings and tentatively lines up to face the Nationals next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:15 pm

    • Tanner Scott locks down 12th save vs. Phillies
Tanner Scott tossed a clean ninth inning with two strikeouts to earn the save against the Phillies on Saturday.

Advice: Scott was summoned in the ninth inning to close out the game with a one-run lead. He shut the door quickly on the Phillies, striking out two batters in a perfect frame for his 12th save of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:49 pm
    • Sonny Gray chased early in loss to Reds
Sonny Gray allowed six runs -- three earned -- with six strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: Gray had worked through two scoreless innings to start the game before the Reds strung together three straight doubled to start the third inning, driving in two runs. A triple, a walk, and a hit batter loaded the bases with one out in the fifth. A fielding error would bring a run in and keep the bases loaded as Gray was relieved at 92 pitches. All inherited runners would come in to score. The 34-year-old right-hander will look to put this one behind him when he takes a 2.98 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and a 109/23 K/BB ratio across 87 2/3 innings into a road start against the Nationals on Friday. • Jazz Chisholm Jr. returns to lineup on Saturday
Jazz Chisholm Jr. (hand) is back in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Phillies.

Advice: Chisholm is back in center field and leading in the wake of a one-game absence from Friday’s game against the Phillies after taking a 93 mph fastball from lefty Matt Strahm off his right hand during Thursday’s series opener. X-rays came back negative for any fractures and it doesn’t seem like he’s going to miss any additional time moving forward. The 26-year-old has been remarkably durable this season, managing to play through several minor physical ailments. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:53 am
    • Drawing closer to return
Diaz (calf) ran on the field Friday and Saturday and has made good progress in his recovery, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Manager Bud Black seemed to offer a more positive outlook on Diaz's recovery than in recent days, though Black still declined to offer a timetable for Diaz's return. Positively, the manager suggested that Diaz will not need a rehab assignment before being activated from the injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:44 am

    • Hit hard by Mets
Blanco (8-3) took the loss Friday as the Astros were downed 7-2 by the Mets, surrendering six runs (three earned) on six hits -- including three home runs -- and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: It was a tough night for the right-hander, who served up multiple long balls for the first time since May 3 and got tagged for three for the first time in his career. Despite his struggles keeping the ball in the park, Blanco nearly escaped with his fourth straight quality start due to an Alex Bregman error, but he fell one out short and got the hook after 98 pitches (65 strikes). Blanco will take a 2.49 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 84:37 K:BB through 90.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Toronto. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:23 pm

    • Homers again in win
Cowser went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 2-1 win over the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Cowser opened the scoring with a solo home run off Max Scherzer in the fourth inning. While the young outfielder is hitting just .203 in June, he has now homered in his past three starts and has five total in the month. On the season, Cowser is hitting .231 with 12 home runs, 34 RBI, 32 runs scored and five steals in 257 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:22 pm

    • Jackson Chourio hits grand slam to lead Brewers
Jackson Chourio hit his first career grand slam Friday to provide all of the scoring as the Brewers beat the Cubs 4-2.

Advice: This one was pretty legit; the homer was projected at 377 feet and would have been out of 21 of the 30 ballparks. He still has just one no-doubter this year; he hit a Martín Pérez changeup 441 feet on May 15. Apart from that, his next farthest blast was 402 feet. Of course, more power is going to come in time here — Chourio is just 30 — and the fact that he has nine homers already is plenty impressive. Rotoworld Friday, 8:08 pm
