      Paul Goldschmidt hit his third homer in two days to give the Cardinals their only run Monday against the Reds.

      Advice: Goldschmidt didn’t crush this one; technically, it wasn’t even a hard-hit ball at 94.3 mph. He hit it to the right spot, though. This little outburst has led to calls that Goldschmidt is back, but we want to see the K rate drop some before we buy into that.       Cody Bellinger went 2-for-4 against the Brewers on Monday.



      Advice: It was a quiet day for the Cubs offense as they could only muster one run. Bellinger, however, has been hot at the plate since a slow start early this season. He’s 31-for-104 (.298) since April 13th.

      Ryan (4-3) earned the win Monday against the Royals, allowing one run on four hits and no walks over seven innings. He struck out nine.

      Advice: Ryan dominated the Royals, generating an impressive 15 whiffs en route to his nine punchouts. With Monday's effort, the 27-year-old righty collected his eighth quality start of the season. Overall, Ryan sports a 2.96 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 73:9 K:BB in 67 innings.     • Joe Ryan strikes out nine in win over Royals
      Joe Ryan recorded nine strikeouts and allowed one run over seven innings on Monday in a win over the Royals.

      Advice: Ryan authored yet another stellar performance on Monday afternoon at Target Field, carrying a shutout into the sixth inning before Kansas City finally broke through courtesy of a two-out RBI single from Vinnie Pasquantino. It was his highest single-start strikeout total since a 12-punchout performance back on April 13 against the Tigers as he induced 15 swinging strikes, including 11 on his fastball, and finished with a robust 33 percent CSW. He’s rapidly cementing his status as an upper-echelon fantasy contributor, having allowed three earned runs or fewer in 10 of his 11 starts at the outset of the season.       Nationals activated OF Lane Thomas (knee) from the IL.

      Advice: Thomas has been on the IL for just over a month with a knee injury. The 28-year-old was tremendous in 2023 but has gotten off to a brutal start in 2024 with a .184/.250/.253 slash line in 22 games. He will remain a fixture in the Nationals’ lineup and should turn things around in the coming weeks. While he may not reach the highs of 2023, he remains a quality MLB outfielder and his 11 steals on the season signal the type of fantasy upside he has.       Thomas (knee) was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday.

      Advice: Victor Robles was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Thomas has been out since late April with a Grade 2 MCL sprain, but he is now ready to roll following a four-game rehab stint with Double-A Harrisburg. Thomas mostly struggled over the first few weeks before landing on the IL, slashing .184/.250/.253 with two homers and 11 steals, but he should immediately slot back in as the starting right fielder for Washington.       Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a pair of two-run home runs in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.

      Advice: Goldschmidt opened up the scoring with a 424-foot two-run shot off Javier Assad in the third. He then followed up with another two-run blast in the fifth to put the Cardinals up 4-0, which was enough for them to hold onto the win. In 12 games since May 12, the 36-year-old is slashing .308/.357/.596 with four home runs, 10 RBI and nine runs scored. Sunday also marked his first multi-homer game since May 23, 2023. Despite his strong form of late, Goldschmidt is still underdelivering for fantasy managers on the whole this season, slashing .222/.298/.345 with six home runs, 21 RBI, 25 runs and three stolen bases across 215 plate appearances.       Paul Goldschmidt clobbered a pair of two-run homers on Sunday night, powering the Cardinals to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Cubs.

      Advice: The 36-year-old slugger opened the scoring in the ballgame with a 424-foot (110.0 mph EV) two-run shot off of Javier Assad in the third inning. He then repeated the process in the fifth inning — that time a 399-foot (104.3 mph) two-run bomb.
