• CJ Abrams homers, doubles to lead Nationals
CJ Abrams collected his fourth homer and his third double in the Nationals’ 6-4 defeat of the Dodgers on Monday.

Advice: It was reasonable to question whether Abrams would improve on last year’s total of 18 homers or perhaps regress there some, given his modest exit velocity numbers, but he’s hitting the ball harder this year and getting results. OBP still might be a question going forward, but he figures to remain very valuable for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld 8 minutes ago

  • Mitch Haniger homers, drives in three in victory
Mitch Haniger delivered a two-run homer and an RBI double in Monday’s win over the Reds.

Advice: Haniger had been pretty quiet since his big Opening Day in his return to Seattle, but this puts him back up to .286/.375/.500 for the season. The Mariners had him DH today for the first time since March 31. That they’re treating Mitch Garver like a full-time DH means they can’t give Haniger the additional time off his feet that might help him remain healthy in the long run. • Jonathan India goes 0-for-4 as leadoff man
Jonathan India went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts from the leadoff spot Monday against the Mariners.

Advice: India has walked 13 times this season, so he has a solid .352 OBP in spite of a .182 average. Still, the Reds ought to try Jake Fraley or Elly De La Cruz in the leadoff spot until India heats up. That said, David Bell seems to really like his set lineup at the moment; he’s continued to hit Christian Encarnacion-Strand third in spite of his struggles, and he’s refused to move De La Cruz up from the sixth spot. • Swats go-ahead home run
Trout went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run during Monday's 7-3 win over the Rays.

Advice: Trout got the Angels on the board with a two-run homer in the eighth as part of a five-run inning, giving the Halos the lead and eventual victory. During his last eight games, Trout is batting 11-for-32 (.344) with four home runs and seven runs scored. Rotowire.com 40 minutes ago

  • Lone source of offense
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run batted in during Monday's 7-3 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Ramirez provided all three of Tampa Bay's runs, plating Jose Siri on a fielder's choice in the fifth inning before launching a two-run homer off Matt Moore in the eighth. The long ball was Ramirez's first of 2024, and just his second extra-base hit through 62 at-bats. In 15 games, Ramirez is slashing .258/.258/.323 with nine runs scored. • Clubs another long ball
Ward went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored during Monday's 7-3 win over the Rays.

Advice: Ward launched his third homer of the last four games and extended his hit streak to eight consecutive games. The long ball plated Anthony Rendon in the ninth inning and gave closer Carlos Estevez four runs of cushion. Ward might be headed toward a breakout campaign, being tied for fourth in the majors in home runs (six) with an impressive .313/.333/.612 slash line through 16 games. • Willson Contreras doubles twice in win over A’s
Willson Contreras doubled twice and knocked in a run Monday in the win over the A’s.

Advice: The Cardinals are still treating Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado as if they’re elite hitters, but Contreras had better OPSs than those two last season and is off to a far better start than both this year; it wouldn’t be a bad idea for the club to hit him higher than at least one of those guys. As is, Contreras, batting .286/.400/.524, has just five RBI while hitting below guys with sub-.300 OBPs. Rotoworld Today, 9:24 pm
  • Esteury Ruiz homers in first at-bat back in majors
Esteury Ruiz delivered a pinch-hit homer in his first at-bat since returning from the minors Monday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Ruiz’s homer off JoJo Romero accounted for Oakland’s lone run in a 3-1 loss. We’re not sure whether the A’s recalled Ruiz intending to give him regular playing time, but one imagines this will probably earn him a start Tuesday versus Lance Lynn. He’s definitely going to be in the lineup Wednesday against a left-hander in Steven Matz. Rotoworld Today, 9:24 pm

  • Ryan Noda lifted for pinch-hitter in eighth
Ryan Noda was pulled for a pinch-hitter after going 0-for-2 with a strikeout against the Cardinals on Monday.

Advice: Noda hit leadoff in his first seven appearances for the A’s this season. His last four starts have seen him hit sixth, seventh, eighth and now ninth. The only way to drop him further now is to put him on the bench. It seems like he deserves a chance to rebound, considering that he was one of Oakland’s best players last season, but it’s been ugly so far; he’s batting .156 with one extra-base hit, very weak exit velocity numbers and a far higher groundball rate than last year.
