  • Ben Lively earns fifth win Saturday vs. Nats
    Ben Lively allowed two runs with four strikeouts across 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Nationals on Saturday.

    Advice: Lively worked through three scoreless inning before the Nationals brought two runs in to score in the fourth. After walking a batter with one out, Tyler Freeman misplayed a routine fly ball to put runners on second and third with one out instead of two outs and a runner on first. A groundout and a base hit would bring the two runs in to score. Lively would work a clean fifth and gave up a base hit with two outs in the sixth. That would end his day at 86 pitches -- 62 for strikes. He struck out four.   • Mitchell Parker allows three runs in loss to Guardians
    Mitchell Parker allowed three runs with five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Guardians on Saturday.

    Advice: Parker got into some trouble in the first inning, issuing two walks to load the bases before Kyle Manzardo brought two runners in to score on a single. José Ramirez would score a third run for the Guardians in the third inning on a wild pitch. Parker would pitch into the sixth without allowing another run, leaving with two outs and two runners on at 98 pitches. He struck out five on the day.   • Enmanuel Valdez slugs two homers in victory
    Enmanuel Valdez went 3-for-4 with two homers, a double, three runs scored, and three RBI to lead the Red Sox to a 6-3 win over the Tigers on Saturday.

    Advice: Valdez had an outstanding day at the plate on Saturday. He led off the second inning with a solo homer off Reese Olson to put the Red Sox on the board. A double to lead off the fourth put him in position to score once again on a sacrifice fly. Valdez got to Olson once again in the sixth with a two-run blast for his first career multi-homer game. The 25-year-old second baseman was recently recalled from Triple-A for some depth after Tyler O’Neill landed on the injured list, but isn’t likely to get regular playing time to make him relevant in most leagues.   • Vaughn Grissom diagnosed with hamstring strain
    Vaughn Grissom was pulled from Saturday’s contest against the Tigers in the third inning due to a right hamstring strain.

    Advice: Grissom missed plenty of action at the start of the 2024 season due to a left hamstring strain, so same issue but different leg. The severity of the strain — as well as how much time he may stand to miss — are not yet known.     Grissom was removed from Saturday's contest with the Tigers in the top of the third inning due to a right hamstring strain, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.

    Advice: Grissom grounded out in the bottom of the second inning and was replaced by Connor Wong at second base. He missed the first month of the season with a left hamstring strain.     Advice: It looked like the 23-year-old infielder may have tweaked something while running out a ground ball in the second inning. He was then replaced defensively at second base by Connor Wong when the Red Sox took the field to begin the third inning. Expect the team to provide an update on his status shortly.
