    • Tyler Glasnow allows three runs in loss to D-Backs
      Tyler Glasnow allowed three runs with six strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

      Advice: Glasnow had worked around a pair of hits and an error through four scoreless innings before the Diamondbacks got to him in the fifth. A walk and a single put two runners on for Corbin Carroll, who brought both runners in to score on a triple. A wild pitch allowed Carroll to cross home for the third run. Glasnow would complete the frame and was done after five on 95 pitches. He struck out six. The 30-year-old right-hander will take a 3.09 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and an 87/17 K/BB ratio across 67 innings into a start against the Mets in New York on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:58 pm
       
    • Career day against Milwaukee
      Luzardo (2-3) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing three hits and no walks with four strikeouts across eight scoreless innings against the Brewers.

      Advice: Luzardo completed eight innings for the first time in his career, blanking Milwaukee in dominant fashion. All three hits allowed were singles and he didn't issue a walk for a second straight start. The southpaw retired 17 consecutive batters during the start, spanning the second to the eighth inning. He's been excellent in three starts since coming off the IL, owning a 0.92 ERA and a 19:1 K:BB over 19.2 innings. He'll look to keep the ball rolling Tuesday against the Padres.     • Allows five runs in loss
      Steele (0-2) took the loss against Atlanta on Wednesday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five over 6.1 innings.

      Advice: Steele made short work of the first six batters he faced in the contest before giving up a leadoff single to Michael Harris to open the third, followed by a two-run shot off the bat of Adam Duvall. The lefty then appeared to settle in over the next three frames, but again found himself in trouble after allowing three of the first four batters to reach in the seventh. He would end up being charged with another three runs in the inning, with two coming home after he was relieved by Jose Cuas. Steele has now given up four or more runs in three consecutive starts and is still looking for his first win of the season.       Diaz went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 8-5 loss to the Red Sox.

      Advice: Diaz knocked in a run with a groundout in the second inning and added a solo shot in the ninth. He's up to four homers this season, three of which have come in his last 12 games, a span in which he's hitting .313 (15-for-48). The infielder is slashing .255/.321/.360 with 25 RBI, 22 runs scored, no stolen bases and nine doubles over 50 contests this season.       Daulton Varsho went 1-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored, two RBI, and two walks against the White Sox on Wednesday.

      Advice: After drawing a walk in the first inning, Varsho brought two runs in to score on a triple in the second. After walking once again in the fourth, he crossed home plate on a base hit by Bo Bichette.     • Justin Steele surrenders five runs to Braves in loss
      Justin Steele allowed five runs with five strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Braves on Wednesday.

      Advice: Steele had retired the first six batters before Michael Harris II led off the third inning with a base hit. Adam Duvall followed with a two-run homer to put the Braves on the board. Steele pitched into the seventh, leaving at 93 pitches with a run in, two runners on, and one out. Both inherited runners would come in to score. He struck out five on the day.     • Jesús Luzardo fires eight innings, earns win
      Jesús Luzardo pitched eight strong innings allowing just three hits and no earned runs in a 1-0 win over the Brewers on Wednesday. He struck out four and walked none.

      Advice: For the second straight start, Luzardo was tremendous despite falling fastball velocity. His fastball averaged 94.1 MPH on Wednesday, down nearly two ticks off this year’s average and three from last season. Still, his fastball, changeup, and slider each induced six whiffs while the changeup was especially tough on right-handed batters.     • Triston McKenzie gives up three homers to Mets
      Triston McKenzie gave up three runs — all of them on solo homers — over five innings Wednesday versus the Mets.

      Advice: Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil and Harrison Bader hit the homers. McKenzie averaged a season-low 89.7 mph with his fastball today, down from 91.0 previously and 92.4 mph before he hurt his elbow last year.
