• Brenton Doyle picks up three hits, two steals
Brenton Doyle went 3-for-4 with an RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases against the Padres on Thursday.

Advice: Doyle scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning in a game that the Rockies trailed 9-4 coming into the inning. The pair of steals gives the speedy outfielder four on the season, and the three knocks improves his average to .330. Doyle was not a good offensive player in 2023, and it’s more than fair to question whether any of this is sustainable. That being said, a friendly home park and impressive athleticism at least makes Doyle worth monitoring. Rotoworld 47 minutes ago

  • Hunter Goodman hits three-run homer vs. Padres
Hunter Goodman blasted a three-run homer in a victory over the Padres on Thursday.

Advice: Goodman was just recalled Wednesday from Triple-A, and he has his first homer of the season. The 24-year-old hit seven homers over 20 games in Triple-A and has shown easy power in his right-handed bat, but there are reasons to worry that he’ll be a contributor in any other category. • Jurickson Profar homers, plates three in loss
Jurickson Profar homered and drove in three runs against the Padres on Thursday.

Advice: Profar took Nick Mears deep in the seventh inning to extend the Padres’ lead to 8-4 in the seventh inning. He also picked up an RBI with a single in the third off an ineffective Dakota Hudson. Profar is off to a very nice start to the 2024 campaign with an .872 OPS, three homers and 18 RBI over San Diego’s first 28 games. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago
  • Cranks third homer
Brennan went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Brennan opened the scoring with a solo shot off Chase Anderson in the second inning, his third homer of the year. Brennan's started to swing the bat well recently -- he's now 6-for-13 with five extra-base hits (including two homers) in his last four games. The left-handed Brennan has gotten the majority of starts in right field this season with Ramon Laureano occupying the short side of the platoon. He's now slashing .250/.310/.453 through 71 plate appearances with 11 runs scored, 10 RBI and two stolen bases. Rotowire.com Today, 2:51 pm

  • Pete Crow-Armstrong hits go-ahead homer vs. Astros
Pete Crow-Armstrong swatted a go-ahead two-run homer to help the Cubs to a 3-1 victory over the Astros on Thursday.

Advice: Not only was the homer a two-run shot that gave the Cubs a 3-1 lead, but it was the first MLB homer of Crow-Armstrong’s career. The 22-year-old was struggling in Triple-A prior to being called up, but there’s a reason why he is considered one of the top outfield prospects in the sport. His power/speed combination at least makes him worth roster consideration in deeper leagues. Rotoworld Today, 2:09 pm
  • Josh Smith homers and doubles in loss to Mariners
Josh Smith homered and doubled in a loss to the Mariners on Thursday.

Advice: Smith picked up one of two homers the Rangers hit off of Luis Castillo, and his was a solo shot that tied the game at 2-2. The left-handed hitting infielder is off to a strong start with the bat to open 2023, as the two extra-base hits has him slashing .292/.393/.417 over 72 at-bats. Rotoworld Today, 1:59 pm

  • Emmanuel Rodriguez hurt Wednesday at Double-A
Twins OF prospect Emmanuel Rodriguez was removed from Wednesday’s game for Double-A Wichita with an undisclosed injury.

Advice: It’s a tough break for Rodriguez, who was off to a sizzling-hot start for Double-A Wichita, and was rapidly establishing himself as one of the top prospects in the fantasy landscape. The 21-year-old outfielder, who boasts a .686 OPS with four homers and nine steals through 16 games this season, suffered an apparent injury when he slid head-first into second base on a stolen base attempt. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days and the hope is that he’s not facing an extended absence. Rotoworld Today, 1:58 pm

  • Red Sox make Ceddanne Rafaela everyday shortstop
Red Sox manager Alex Cora confirmed Thursday that Ceddanne Rafaela is their new everyday shortstop.

Advice: There was some hesitation earlier this month from the Red Sox about potentially moving Rafaela back to shortstop in the wake of Trevor Story’s season-ending shoulder injury. However, they’ve officially made the move in part to shore up their lackluster middle infield defense and also get Wilyer Abreu’s hot bat into the lineup more often in a corner outfield spot. It’ll be Jarren Duran taking over in center field everyday until further notice. It’s a significant development for fantasy purposes as Rafaela gains middle infield eligibility, which gives him some additional appeal from a roster construction standpoint, even in shallow mixed leagues. • Rob Refsnyder has two hits, RBI in loss to CLE
Robbie Refsnyder went 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBI in a loss to the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: Refsnyder started and batted third with a right-handed pitcher on the mound, which is notable since he had only been starting against lefties when the Red Sox were at full strength. Instead of playing Masataka Yoshida in left field, Alex Cora opted to play Refsnyder which says a lot about how the Red Sox view Yoshida’s outfield defense. With Triston Casas out and the Red Sox seemingly souring on Yoshida, there could be more at-bats for Refsnyder, who’s 9-for-21 with a home run and five RBI in his six games off the injured list.
