    • Cleared for rehab start
Woo (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Everett this weekend, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Woo came out of a bullpen session Wednesday with no concerns, clearing the way for him to make a rehab start. Mariners manager Scott Servais wouldn't rule out a return before the All-Star break for Woo, so it sounds like the right-hander could need just the one rehab outing if all goes well. • Bryan Woo will make rehab start this weekend
Bryan Woo (hamstring) will make a rehab start for High-A Everett this weekend.

Advice: Woo has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since June 25th and has also battled an elbow injury earlier in the season. There’s no word yet on how many rehab starts Woo would need, but it doesn’t figure to be more than one or two. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

    • Jake Irvin dominates Mets in win
Jake Irvin threw eight scoreless innings in a win over the Mets on Thursday, allowing just one hit and striking out eight.

Advice: It was sheer dominance from Irvin, who allowed a single to Jeff McNeil and nothing else. His curveball provided its typical strong results, and the trio of fastballs did their part as Irvin induced 15 whiffs on 47 swings for a 32 percent whiff rate and 38 percent CSW on the day. He now has a 2.80 ERA in what has been a breakout season and will look to keep that going next week against these same Mets. Rotoworld Today, 10:44 am

    • Has career day vs Mets
Irvin (7-6) earned the win Thursday against the Mets. He allowed one hit and one walk over eight scoreless innings with eight strikeouts.

Advice: Irvin was brilliant on Thursday as he threw a career-high eight innings to grab his seventh win. After giving up a one-out single to Jeff McNeil in the third, Irvin went on to retire the last 17 batters he faced. He became the first Nationals pitcher to throw eight shutout innings since Joe Ross in June 2021. The 27-year-old has registered a quality start in eight of his last nine appearances. He is making a case for a spot in the All-Star Game with his 2.80 ERA, which is ranked 10th in all of MLB. Rotowire.com Today, 10:32 am

    • Back in Seattle lineup
Garver (wrist) will start at designated hitter and bat second in Thursday's game versus the Orioles.

Advice: Garver was used as a pinch hitter in Wednesday's game and is now back in the lineup after missing two starts with a sore wrist. He and his teammates will be tasked with solving Baltimore ace Corbin Burnes. Rotowire.com Today, 10:07 am

    • Makes pinch-hit cameo Wednesday
Garver (wrist) entered Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Orioles as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and singled in his one plate appearance.

Advice: Garver was out of the starting nine for the second straight day after being hit by a pitch in the wrist Sunday against the Twins, but his ability to step into the batter's box and put some good wood on the ball would seem to bode well for his recovery. The veteran offseason addition, who snapped a brief 0-for-9 skid with his timely knock, could potentially find himself back in the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Orioles, although manager Scott Servais had said before Wednesday's game that Garver wasn't fully pain-free yet, per MLB.com. • Launches homer in loss
Paredes went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and two walks in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Royals.

Advice: Paredes took Michael Wacha deep in the opening frame for an early 1-0 lead. He and Amed Rosario were the only Rays to get on base multiple times in the game after Paredes drew multiple walks for the first time since May 17. He's now racked up five extra-base hits, reached base a total of eight times and driven in four runs over his last three games. Paredes is enjoying another productive campaign after breaking out last year, slashing .276/.365/.481 with 14 homers, 46 RBI, 33 runs and a 35:57 BB:K in 342 plate appearances. • Jared Jones (lat) lands on 15-day IL
Pirates placed RHP Jared Jones on the 15-day injured list with a strained lat.

Advice: Jones was removed from Wednesday night’s game after 78 pitches with a strained lat. The team didn’t express much concern over the injury, but Jones found himself on the injured list anyway on Thursday morning. With the Pirates already planning to limit Jones’ innings in his rookie season, this would seem to be an easy way to pause Jones’ innings count for a little bit and bring him back after the All-Star break without having the massage his innings as much. • Heads to IL with strained lat
The Pirates placed Jones on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a strained right lat, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Advice: The injury caused Jones to be removed early from Wednesday's start against the Cardinals. It does not appear to be a significant strain, but the Pirates undoubtedly will exercise caution with the talented young right-hander. Luis Ortiz would seem to be a good bet to slide into the Pirates' rotation in Jones' place. Rotowire.com Today, 7:39 am
