      Ohtani went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs, an RBI, a stolen base and a walk Monday in a 9-5 victory versus the Rockies.

      Advice: With Mookie Betts (hand) set to miss several weeks, Ohtani could see most of his work out of the leadoff spot -- he's now slotted in there for both games that Betts has missed so far this season. Ohtani certainly possesses qualities of a leadoff man with a .314 average, .388 OBP and 16 thefts on the campaign, though his power far exceeds what is usually expected from a batter in that role. Ohtani could lose some RBI opportunities with Betts not hitting ahead of him for the foreseeable future, but the Japanese superstar is more than capable of knocking himself in and should continue to get opportunities to score with Will Smith and Freddie Freeman batting behind him.       Neris (6-2) took the loss and blew a save against the Giants on Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter over one inning.

      Advice: Neris entered in the top of the ninth frame with Chicago leading by two runs. He got one out before Jorge Soler reached base on catcher's interference. Mike Yastrzemski followed with a walk before Thairo Estrada gave San Francisco the lead with a three-run homer. Though Neris retired the following two batters, the damage had been done, and the Cubs weren't able to mount a comeback in the bottom of the frame. The blown save was the fourth of the season for Neris and his third over his past seven chances.       Gray allowed two runs on five hits and two walks over 7.2 innings in Monday's 7-6 win versus the Marlins. He struck out four and didn't factor in the decision.

      Advice: Gray pitched into the eighth inning for the first time this season and left the game up 4-1, but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead. The four strikeouts were a season low for Gray as he worked fast and efficiently, only needing 84 pitches to record 23 outs. The veteran's ERA now sits at 2.95 with a 1.02 WHIP through 13 starts.       Hector Neris allowed three runs, blew the save and took the loss against the Giants on Monday.

      Advice: The Cubs’ lead evaporated quickly in the ninth inning. With one out, Jorge Soler reached on a catcher interference. After Neris issued a walk to Mike Yastrzemski, Thairo Estrada hit a three-run home run to give the Giants a 7-6 lead. Neris now has four blown saves on the year including two blown saves in his last three opportunities. Neris’ ERA is now 4.73 on the year. His grip on the closer role loosens with every blown save.       Sonny Gray allowed two runs over 7 2/3 innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Marlins.

      Advice: Gray was long gone before this one was decided in a 12-inning marathon, but he managed to complete seven frames for the second consecutive start. He struck out four and only issued two walks. The 34-year-old righty has been excellent this season in his St. Louis debut, allowing three earned runs or fewer in 10 of his 13 starts so far.       Fried allowed a run on four hits and three walks over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out six during the win over Detroit.

      Advice: Fried worked five scoreless frames until the Tigers finally broke through with a run in the sixth inning. He wasn't very efficient Monday, throwing 60 of 103 pitches for strikes while failing to complete six innings for the second straight outing.
