      Oneil Cruz delivered a two-run single on Monday, lifting the Pirates to a 4-1 victory over the Reds.

      Advice: Cruz put the Pirates ahead for good with a two-run single off Reds starter Carson Spiers in the opening frame, which wound up being more than enough run support for young ace Paul Skenes and Pittsburgh’s bullpen in a low-scoring affair at PNC Park.       David Bednar tossed a perfect frame on Monday against the Reds to record his 15th save of the season.

      Advice: Bednar was summoned to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and required just 11 pitches (eight strikes) to spin a flawless frame. It was a nice rebound effort for the 29-year-old stopper after giving up solo homers in each of his previous two appearances. He’s converted 15 of his 18 save opportunities on the year. The 27-year-old has now gone deeper than six innings in three straight starts and has walked merely one batter across his last 33.2 innings. He's tied with Corbin Burnes and Tanner Houck for the league lead with 12 quality starts and paces MLB with 98.1 innings pitched.
