      Robert went 2-for-3 with two walks and two stolen bases in Friday's 3-2 win over the Marlins.

      Advice: Miami had trouble keeping Robert off the bases or preventing him from taking an extra bag when he got there, but his teammates couldn't bring him home. The 26-year-old has hit safely in eight straight games and 13 of his last 15, and over the latter stretch he's slashing .310/.394/.552 with three homers, five steals, eight RBI and 10 runs.       Kopech gave up a run on two hits and a walk over 1.1 innings Friday to record his eighth save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Marlins. He struck out one.

      Advice: With two on and two outs in the ninth inning, Kopech gave up an RBI single to Bryan De La Cruz, but he then got Josh Bell to ground out to escape the jam. Kopech isn't exactly locked in right now, stumbling to a 6.91 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB over his last 14.1 innings while blowing three of six save chances, but the White Sox seem content to deploy him at the team's closer for now, perhaps in an effort to increase his trade value.       Holmes blew his fifth save chance of the season in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning loss to the Red Sox, giving up two runs on two hits in the ninth inning without striking out a batter.

      Advice: With two outs in the ninth and the Yankees holding a 3-1 lead, Holmes gave up a single to Dominic Smith before leaving a sinker over the middle of the plate that Masataka Yoshida blasted to right field for a game-tying homer. Holmes has been tagged for runs in five of seven appearances since his last save June 9, stumbling to a 10.80 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 6.2 innings over that stretch despite an 8:0 K:BB. His spot as the Yankees' closer doesn't seem to be in jeopardy yet, but the 31-year-old will likely need to right the ship before the trade deadline if he doesn't want New York shopping for his replacement.       Houck came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning win over the Yankees, giving up three runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out one.

      Advice: The right-hander was looking sharp early, but a 38-minute rain delay in the middle of the third inning caused Houck to lose his focus and he fell apart completely in the fourth. He's winless in his last four starts, stumbling to a 5.40 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 17:8 K:BB through 20 innings over that stretch, but he figures to bounce back in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against Oakland.       Tanner Houck was charged with three runs — one earned — in 3 1/3 innings Friday versus the Yankees.

      Advice: Houck lost his command after a brief rain delay interrupted his start tonight, but he still would have gotten through four scoreless if Enmanuel Valdez hadn’t botched a double play ball, resulting in no outs. At the same time, it wasn’t Valdez’s fault that Houck walked three in the inning. On the night, just 33 of his 68 pitches were strikes.     • Clay Holmes blows save by giving up homer
      Clay Holmes took his fifth blown save after giving up a game-tying two-run homer Friday against the Red Sox.

      Advice: Holmes retired the first two batters he faced, but then a single and a homer ruined his night. The homer, a 405-foot blast from Masataka Yoshida, was just the second he’s allowed in 36 innings this season. He’s been stuck on 19 saves since June 9, and while that’s mostly the fault of his teammates, he has given up runs in five of his last seven appearances. Even though Holmes is almost certainly one of the game’s 15- or 20-best relievers, there is the chance that the Yankees will supplant him in the closer’s role at the trade deadline.
