  • JD Mart homers twice in win over Padres
    J.D. Martinez went 3-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI in a 5-1 win over the Padres on Saturday.

    Advice: Martinez hit his first home run 391 feet off of Jhony Brito in the fourth inning and then followed that up with a 382-foot shot in the seventh. He now has eight home runs and 26 RBI in 43 games for the Mets so far this season. Given his regular playing time and spot in the middle of the Mets’ order, Martinez carries consistent fantasy value even in his age 36 season. Rotoworld Today, 6:42 pm
     
  • Jackson Merrill power binge continues in loss
    Jackson Merrill went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.

    Advice: Merrill launched a 411-foot blast against Jose Quintana for his seventh home run of the season. The rookie now has four home runs in his last three games. All of them have also been solo shots. Merrill was billed as primarily a batting average asset who wouldn’t provide much power, so it’s nice to see him starting to show some pop.   • Jake Cave (head) returns to action on Saturday
    Jake Cave (head) returned to the Rockies’ starting lineup on Saturday.

    Advice: Cave was scratched from Friday night’s lineup after he was hit in the head by a line drive during batting practice. Fortunately, he sustained just a minor cut to his forehead and is able to return to action the following evening.   • Braves move Jarred Kelenic up to leadoff spot
    Jarred Kelenic is batting leadoff for Saturday’s game against the Rays.

    Advice: Kelenic has been bumped up to the leadoff spot in the wake of Michael Harris II hitting the injured list with a hamstring strain. It’s a nice temporary boost for the 24-year-old former top prospect’s fantasy outlook, if he can capitalize on the opportunity.     Advice: With Michael Harris (hamstring) joining Ronald Acuna (knee) on the shelf, Atlanta has lost its last two leadoff hitters against right-handed pitching. Kelenic will get the next crack at the job, which is quite a promotion given that he hadn't previously batted higher than seventh this season.     Advice: The 21-year-old went yard for the third time in the last two games, accounting for all of the Padres' offense on the night with a fifth-inning shot off Sean Manaea. Merrill seems to have flipped a switch in June -- over the last nine games, he's batting .353 (12-for-34) with four doubles, three homers, two steals, five RBI, six runs and an impressive 8.3 percent strikeout rate.     Cave received four stitches after being hit in the head by a line drive during pregame batting practice Friday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

    Advice: Although Cave had to be carted off the field following the incident, he said after Friday's game that he felt fine and that there isn't any reason to suspect he might have suffered a concussion. It's possible the Rockies will keep the 31-year-old outfielder sidelined for another game or two just to be safe, but a trip to the injured list doesn't seem likely.
