    • Andrés Muñoz gets hold in return from sore back
Andrés Muñoz, who hadn’t pitched since aggravating his back Tuesday, returned to the mound with a scoreless eighth inning Sunday against the Royals.

Advice: Rather than save him for the ninth, the Mariners opted to use Muñoz against the top of the Royals order in the eighth with a two-run lead today. Muñoz did his part, but Michael Baumann went on to give up a game-tying homer in the bottom of the ninth. The Mariners went on to win in the 10th, with Tayler Saucedo collecting a one-out save. Ryne Stanek, typically the primary alternative to Muñoz, went unused for a second straight day after throwing 39 pitches between Thursday and Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:22 pm
    • Jurickson Profar leaves the yard in loss Sunday
Jurickson Profar socked his 10th dinger of the season on Sunday afternoon in a lopsided loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 31-year-old outfielder continued his hot-hitting ways, crushing a 384-foot (102.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Tommy Henry in the third inning, pulling the Padres to within four runs at 7-3. That would be as close as they would get. Profar also singled in the contest, finishing the afternoon 2-for-4. He’s now slashing an unbelievable .325/.420/.504 with 10 homers, 43 RBI and four stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:21 pm

    • Back in action
Munoz (back) recorded one strikeout in a perfect eighth inning Sunday against the Royals. He said he "felt weird" out on the mound and was happy with the outing even though he didn't feel like he had his best stuff or command, per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times.

Advice: He was the first reliever out of the bullpen after George Kirby tossed seven innings of one-run ball. Mike Baumann came on in the ninth inning and gave up two earned runs to blow the save (and eventually pick up the win). It sounds like Munoz will be considered available going forward, although his back might not feel fully healthy. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:06 pm
    • Resumes rehab in Brooklyn
Alvarez (thumb) resumed his rehab assignment Sunday with High-A Brooklyn, starting at catcher while going 0-for-5 in a 7-6 loss to Aberdeen.

Advice: After going 3-for-14 with a home run and three walks across the first five games of his rehab assignment, Alvarez had been out of the Brooklyn lineup for each of the previous three days while tending to a family matter in his native Venezuela. He rejoined Brooklyn for its final game of the week, and though he came up empty at the plate, getting additional at-bats under his belt is the more pressing concern for Alvarez as he looks to prove he's made a full recovery from the left thumb surgery he underwent in late April. If the Mets are comfortable with Alvarez's health coming out of Sunday's contest, he could be activated from the 10-day injured list for the start of the big club's series with the Marlins that begins Tuesday. • Taking seat Sunday
Schneider is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Schneider started the previous 14 games but will sit Sunday amid a 3-for-23 slump. Spencer Horwitz will step in at second base and bat leadoff in the series finale at Oakland. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:19 am

    • Davis Schneider getting Sunday off vs. Athletics
Davis Schneider is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Athletics.

Advice: Schneider gets a day of rest against Mitch Spence and the Oakland staff. In his place, Spencer Horwitz will not only get the start at second base, but hit at the top of the Toronto lineup. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:15 am

    • Returning to action Sunday
Marte (back) is starting at second base and batting second Sunday against the Padres.

Advice: The 30-year-old was scratched from Saturday's starting nine due to lower-back soreness but will end up sitting just one game. Marte is 11-for-26 with three homers, six RBI and a 4:7 BB:K through seven games in June, which has boosted his OPS for the season to .848. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:02 am

    • Marte, Moreno back in lineup for Diamondbacks
Ketel Marte (back) is hitting second and playing second base Sunday against the Padres.

Advice: Marte and Gabriel Moreno (illness) are both back in the lineup for the D-Backs for their series finale against the Padres. Marte will handle the keystone with Moreno starting behind the plate and hitting eighth against Adam Mazur and the San Diego pitching staff. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:56 am

    • Throws on flat ground, bullpen next
Gallen (hamstring) threw a flat-ground session Saturday and is expected to throw a bullpen session soon, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Gallen was cleared for throwing June 3 and was able to complete a flat-ground session Saturday. The next box for Gallen to check in his recovery from a right hamstring strain would be a bullpen session, which should occur in the coming days. Gallen will be eligible to return from the 15-day injured list June 15, though it's unclear if he'll be ready to join the big club by then. Rotowire.com Saturday, 5:18 pm
