• Pops first homer
Trout went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Thursday against the Orioles.

Advice: Trout hit third in the Angels' Opening Day lineup and wasted no time parking his mark on the game by taking Corbin Burnes deep in his first at-bat. He was ultimately pulled from the game early with the Angels down big, but there is no injury issue. Trout has failed to reach 500 plate appearances in each of the last three full seasons, but he should remain an elite producer so long as he can stay on the field. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago
  • Records three hits on Opening Day
Fry went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI in Thursday's 8-0 Opening Day win over Oakland.

Advice: Fry got the start at DH and batted fifth in the order following a strong spring during which he hit .295 with a pair of homers and eight RBI. The 28-year-old scored Cleveland's first run of the campaign in the second inning Thursday, coming around to score on a Tyler Freeman double following his own one-out two-bagger. In addition to his three hits, Fry added a sacrifice fly in the ninth frame to cap the scoring in the contest. It will take much more than one game for him to gain viability in mixed fantasy leagues, though the fact that Fry holds catcher eligibility and may log occasional time at DH in addition to being able to play the infield and outfield gives him some intrigue, especially in two-catcher formats. • Reaches thrice, homers
Biggio went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's win over Tampa Bay.

Advice: Biggio was excellent from the nine-slot Thursday, picking up his first long ball of the campaign in just his second at-bat. The 29-year-old has hit better than .235 just once in his five-year career and has seen fewer than 340 plate appearances in four straight campaigns, but he could have the opportunity to exceed both of those marks in 2024 if Thursday is any indication. • Hits first home run of season
Springer went 1-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's win over the Rays.

Advice: Springer kicked off the Blue Jays' scoring Thursday, delivering a solo homer off Zach Eflin in the fourth inning for the team's first run. While he wouldn't get another hit, Springer was walked in the seventh and eventually came around to score on a Bo Bichette double. Batting atop a stacked Toronto lineup once again this season, Springer should provide ample fantasy value from the outfield position. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago
  • Lourdes Gurriel drives in five in blowout win over Rockies
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. homered and drove in five runs while going 3-for-5 in a 16-1 rout of the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Gurriel Jr. blasted a two-run shot off Kyle Freeland in the first inning in a game that the Diamondbacks essentially dominated from start to finish. The veteran outfielder also drove in a pair of runs on a pair of hits in the third inning in a frame that saw the Diamondbacks score a whopping 14 runs. Gurriel Jr. also came across to score three runs in an opener he’ll likely remember fondly while encouraging Rockies fans to look forward to the 2025 MLB Draft. Rotoworld 56 minutes ago
  • Mitch Haniger homers in return to Seattle
Mitch Haniger hit a two-run homer while going 2-for-3 with two runs scored in a loss Thursday to the Red Sox.

Advice: Haniger got the Mariners back in the game with a two-run homer off Brayan Bello in the fifth inning. He also drew a walk in the ninth off Kenley Jansen, but he was left stranded to spoil his return to the Seattle lineup. Haniger struggled mightily in 2023 and has dealt with a plethora of injury issues throughout his career, but when he has been healthy, he’s been an effective offensive weapon. The question is whether or not he can stay upright for long enough to provide fantasy relevance. Rotoworld Today, 10:24 pm
  • Logs Opening Day homer
Rosario went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run during Thursday's 8-2 loss to the Reds.

Advice: After scoring a .199 ISO against RHP last season, Rosario continued to mash against righties to open 2024, launching a two-run homer off Emilio Pagan in the seventh inning. While he was a productive piece of a stacked Atlanta offense in 2023, Rosario will likely have a harder time finding RBI opportunities in a sub-par Nats offense. Rotowire.com Today, 10:16 pm
  • Homers in win
Reynolds went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a double while adding a walk in Pittsburgh's Opening Day 6-5 win over Miami in 12 innings.

Advice: Reynolds had been dealing with a back issue in the days leading up to Opening Day, but started in his customary left field and crushed a 2-1 pitch over the left-center field wall in the third inning to knot the game at two. Reynolds later doubled off Anthony Bender to earn the two-hit effort. Reynolds, an all-star in 2021, looks to be healthy as the Pirates were able to begin the season on a positive note. • Tyler O’Neill homers on fifth straight Opening Day
Tyler O’Neill homered, scored two runs and drew a walk in a 6-4 win for the Red Sox over the Mariners on Thursday.

Advice: Amazingly, that makes five straight Opening Days that O’Neill has gone deep. This one was a solo shot in the eighth inning off Cody Bolton to extend Boston’s lead to 6-4. O’Neill also came around to score on a fielder’s choice in the fourth on a throw that hit the outfielder in the head on a poor throw from Josh Rojas. O’Neill has shown flashes of brilliance in his time in the majors — occasionally long stretches of them — and he’ll get a chance to hit in the middle of the order to begin 2024 with the Red Sox.
