• Collects 11th save
Estevez struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 8-6 win over the Giants.

Advice: The Giants made a late push for a comeback, but Estevez shut the door with a 17-pitch ninth inning. He's up to 11 saves this season, five of which have come over his last seven appearances. The closer has added a 3.86 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 20:3 K:BB and three blown saves through 21 innings. The Angels don't often have leads to protect, but Estevez should continue to close as long as he's with the team, though as a pending free agent, he will be a trade target over the next six weeks. • Carlos Estévez locks down save against Giants
Carlos Estévez go the final three outs to get a save against the Giants on Friday.

Advice: It didn’t look like Estévez was going to be necessary Friday night, but an 8-1 cushion turned into an 8-6 game, so the 31-year-old was called upon to convert his 11th save. The 31-year-old didn’t allow a hit, struck out one hitter and threw 12-of-17 pitches in the strike zone. Estévez should continue to see save chances as long as he’s a member of the Angels, but keep in mind a trade — very possible with Los Angels going nowhere — would likely make him a set-up hurler; severely limiting his fantasy upside. • Ranger Suárez allows just one run against Orioles
Ranger Suárez scattered six hits across 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision on Friday against the Orioles. He struck out six, walked two, and allowed one earned run.

Advice: Relative to the rest of his season, this was a difficult start for Suárez and he still allowed just one run against one of the best offenses in baseball. He kept the ball down, mixed all five of his pitches, and hit his spots when he needed to. Especially tough on lefties, he made Gunnar Henderson look as frustrated as he’s been all season with two nasty punch outs. Suárez’s Cy Young campaign will march on next week against the Padres. • Anthony Volpe steals two bags in win on Friday
Anthony Volpe went 1-for-5 with a pair of stolen bases and a run scored on Friday night as the Yankees triumphed over the Red Sox.

Advice: Volpe led off the fifth inning with a single, then swiped second and third base before scoring on Alex Verdugo’s RBI double. That would be his lone hit in five at-bats on the evening. For the season, the dynamic 23-year-old shortstop is now hitting .272/.330/.415 with six homers, 26 RBI and 15 stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:48 pm

  • Rockies place Elias Díaz (calf) on 10-day IL
Rockies placed C Elias Díaz on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 11, with a left calf strain.

Advice: The 33-year-old backstop tried to take things on a day-to-day basis, but ultimately the Rockies thought that it would be better to sit him down for an extended period of time to allow him to fully heal. Nolan Jones was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:59 pm

  • Lands on IL with calf strain
The Rockies placed Diaz on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a left calf strain, retroactive to June 11.

Advice: Diaz was removed in the bottom half of the first inning of Monday's game against the Twins after straining his left calf while running out of the batter's box to first base. He was held out for the rest of the series against Minnesota with the hope he would be available for the weekend series against Pittsburgh, but the 33-year-old catcher will be on the shelf for an extended period of time. Jacob Stallings got the start for Diaz over the last two games of the series against the Twins, and the former figures to get most of the starts behind home plate in the latter's absence, though Hunter Goodman will provide some depth and will start at catcher for Saturday's game, per Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com. • Could return Saturday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Friday that it's a "possibility" Marsh (hamstring) is activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Marsh will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Reading on Friday and it sounds like that could be the only rehab game he needs if he comes out of it well. The outfielder has been sidelined since early June with a strained right hamstring. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:51 pm

  • Stress reaction in neck
Brown has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his neck, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Brown was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier this week with what was referred to as a neck strain at the time. With this more serious diagnosis, he is likely to be sidelined longer than the minimum 15 days, although a clearer timeline isn't yet available. Jordan Wicks has re-entered the Cubs' rotation in Brown's place. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:37 am
