• Report: Rockies calling up prospect Adael Amador
Independent journalist Francys Romero reports the Rockies are calling up top prospect Adael Amador.

Advice: Amador has been sizzling-hot of late for Double-A Harford, batting .359 with six homers over his last nine games, on the heels of a frosty start to the year. The 21-year-old prodigy possesses excellent bat-to-ball skills, which should lead to high batting averages in Colorado, and is starting to show some additional over-the-fence pop. It’s unclear how long he’ll remain in the majors, but he figures to be worthy of a speculative pickup in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld Today, 11:50 am

  • Rockies designate Matt Carasiti for assignment
Rockies designated RHP Matt Carasiti for assignment.

Advice: Carasiti has been jettisoned from Colorado’s 40-man roster after surrendering five runs over his last two relief appearances this week against the Cardinals. The 32-year-old righty reliever holds a calamitous 10.38 ERA, 2.19 WHIP and 7/3 K/BB ratio across 8 2/3 innings (seven appearances) this season in the majors. Rotoworld Today, 11:18 am
  • Swats pair of doubles Friday
France went 2-for-3 with an RBI ground-rule double, another two-bagger, a walk, a hit-by-pitch and a run in a loss to the Royals on Friday.

Advice: France made up for missing out on the Mariners' first-inning fun by lacing a ground-rule double in the fourth to plate J.P. Crawford and extend Seattle's lead to 8-0 at the time. The 29-year-old has dialed in his stroke since the latter part of May and is swinging with more authority, generating a .304 average and .950 OPS over the last 14 contests with six extra-base hits (four doubles, two home runs) and 10 RBI during that span. • Receiving third opinion
The second opinion Gasser received on his left elbow Friday conflicted with the first evaluation, so he's scheduled to visit a third doctor, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: According to Hogg, Dr. Neal ElAttrache recommended surgery after examining Gasser's elbow Friday, which was in contrast to the initial evaluation from earlier this week. There's apparently no new structural damage with the flexor strain, but the differing treatment recommendations will result in the 25-year-old getting a third medical opinion. Gasser is without a timeline for his return, but he appears to be facing an extended absence regardless of whether he undergoes surgery. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:16 pm

  • Surgery recommended for Robert Gasser’s elbow
Robert Gasser will get a third opinion on his elbow after Dr. Neal ElAttrache suggester he undergo surgery.

Advice: Gasser definitely has some damage in his elbow, but it sounds like the first opinion suggested rest and rehab. The highly respected ElAttrache saw things differently. There’s still a scenario in which Gasser comes back and contributes this season, but those who picked him up in mixed leagues can move on. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:13 pm

  • Sitting against lefty
Siani isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: With the Cardinals set to face left-hander Austin Gomber, the lefty-hitting Siani will step out of the lineup Friday. Dylan Carlson will get the nod in center field instead and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:07 pm

  • Roddery Muñoz to start Saturday for Marlins
Roddery Muñoz will be recalled to start Saturday against the Guardians.

Advice: Muñoz has made three starts for the Marlins this season, somehow giving up just nine runs despite allowing six homers and walking seven in 15 2/3 innings. He could serve as the Marlins’ fifth starter until Edward Cabrera returns, but the team could also send him down and go with Max Meyer or another alternative if he’s ineffective tomorrow. • Slow start in rearview mirror
Amador has homered in three straight games and is slashing .333/.422/.741 with seven home runs and seven steals in his last 13 games for Double-A Hartford.

Advice: The prized second baseman slashed .135/.309/.144 with one extra-base hit in his first 32 games of the season, so his overall season stats aren't spectacular, but Amador is beginning to show the type of update that his dynasty managers were expecting. Amador is also a threat on the bases, having stolen 22 bags on 25 attempts in 45 games. He should be Ezequiel Tovar's double-play partner in Colorado for most, if not all, of 2025. • Considers himself ahead of schedule
Rendon (hamstring) resumed baseball activities this week and said Wednesday that he thinks he's ahead of schedule in progressing toward a return, per MLB.com.

Advice: Rendon has been out since April 20 due to a left hamstring strain, but he recently began ramping up his activity by throwing and taking swings in a batting cage. The third baseman will next progress to jogging Saturday, which will be a significant test of the injured hamstring. While Rendon remains weeks away from a return, he indicated that he considers himself ahead of schedule, explaining, "I'm trying to push it each and every day. Let my body tell me that it's painful, it hurts or it's not ready. So we'll get back as soon as possible." Rotowire.com Thursday, 8:50 pm
