• Breather Saturday
McCormick is not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Twins.

Advice: McCormick will head to the bench after he went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in Friday's 6-1 loss to Minnesota. Mauricio Dubon will take over in left field and bat seventh Saturday. Rotowire.com Today, 9:14 am

  • Sitting versus southpaw
Kepler will sit Saturday versus the Astros.

Advice: Kepler will take a seat as Minnesota faces left-hander Framber Valdez on Saturday. Manuel Margot will replace Kepler in right field and bat leadoff against Houston. Rotowire.com Today, 9:06 am

  • Chas McCormick strikes out three times
Chas McCormick fanned all three times he was up Friday versus the Twins.

Advice: The Astros have decided that José Abreu’s pre-2023 track record matters more than McCormick’s impressive 2023 output and have thus started McCormick just twice in the last six games. We think that’s probably the wrong call, but at the same time, McCormick has not, in any way, resembled the threat he was last year. We still think the Astros should give him a few weeks of regular playing time to see if he can bounce back, but we’re not especially optimistic that he would take advantage of said opportunity. • Sal Frelick reaches five times in blowout win
Sal Frelick went 3-for-4 and scored three runs in a blowout win over the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Felich reached five times Friday, and he also drove in a run. The 24-year-old has swung the bat well as of late, and this makes seven hits over his last five games to see his average rise to .266 from .242 in the process. Frelick won’t hit for much power, but he has a chance to be a helper in a few categories even without hitting the ball over the fence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:06 pm

  • Mark Canha undergoes additional testing on hip
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters after Friday’s loss to the Red Sox that Mark Canha underwent additional testing on his injured left hip.

Advice: Canha was a late scratch from Friday’s lineup with the hip issue — which apparently has been bothering him for some time now and finally told the Tigers that he couldn’t play through it any longer. We’ll wait and see what the test results yield, but there’s a chance that the 35-year-old outfielder may wind up on the injured list. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:10 pm

  • Seth Brown strikes out four times in loss
Seth Brown struck out all four times he was up in Friday’s loss to the Braves.

Advice: It’s probably about time for the A’s to give up on Brown. He was a solid role player in 2021 and ’22, but his slugging fell off last year, and his exit velocity numbers have really slipped while he’s hit .201/.242/.329 this season. Lawrence Butler seems like a better option in his spot. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:25 pm

  • Mark Canha scratched Friday with sore left hip
Mark Canha was scratched from the Tigers’ starting lineup on Friday due to soreness in his left hip.

Advice: The 35-year-old outfielder is considered day-to-day. Andy Ibanez will replace him in the team’s starting lineup at second base with Colt Keith shifting to the designated hitter spot. The Tigers are already without Kerry Carpenter (back) for a significant amount of time, so they really can’t afford to have Canha to be out for long. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:18 pm

  • Scratched Friday
Canha was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Red Sox due to left hip soreness.

Advice: Canha was slated to serve as the designated hitter and bat in the cleanup spot Friday, but the 35-year-old was removed from the lineup due to the injury. Colt Keith will shift to DH and Andy Ibanez will start at second base, while Gio Urshela moves up to fourth in the batting order against Red Sox right-hander Tanner Houck. • Late scratch Friday
Donovan, who was set to start in left field and bat in the leadoff spot Friday against the Phillies, was scratched from the Cardinals' lineup due to neck stiffness, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Dylan Carlson will enter the lineup and start in right field, while Alec Burleson shifts to left field and Matt Carpenter moves up to the leadoff spot, per John Denton of MLB.com. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:57 pm
