• Secures sixth save
Kimbrel earned a save against the Angels on Monday, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two batters over one scoreless inning.

Advice: Kimbrel ran into some trouble in attempting to protect Baltimore's two-run ninth inning lead when he allowed the first two batters he faced to reach base. A one-out walk -- Kimbrel's first free pass of the campaign -- loaded the bases for Los Angeles, but the veteran closer got Nolan Schanuel to pop out before striking out Mike Trout looking to slam the door closed in dramatic fashion. Kimbrel is now 6-for-7 in save opportunities this season, and he's allowed just one earned run over 10 frames while racking up an impressive 16:1 K:BB. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago
  • Unscored upon again in victory
Suarez (1-0) earned the win over the Angels on Monday, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Suarez got another turn in the rotation after holding Minnesota scoreless in his season debut Wednesday, and he turned in a very similar pitching line. The right-hander again completed 5.2 scoreless frames, this time getting enough run support to earn his first major-league win since 2016. Suarez has now completed 11.1 scoreless innings to begin the campaign, though his lack of previous big-league success makes it reasonable to question if he can sustain his effectiveness. It's worth noting that the right-hander pitched in Korea over the previous two campaigns, and though he wasn't exactly dominant, it's possible that tenure helped him uncover something that is helping with his approach to big-league hitters. Suarez appears set to stick in Baltimore's rotation for the time being, and he lines up for a favorable matchup against Oakland in his next projected start. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago

  • Struggling of late
McMahon went 0-for-3 with an RBI on Monday against the Padres.

Advice: McMahon recorded four hits April 12, but he has only five hits across 38 plate appearances since. He's also struck out at 39.5 percent clip in that span while tallying two RBI and two runs scored. Even with that stretch, McMahon has a .314 average across 100 plate appearances. • One hit in return
Doyle went 1-for-3 Monday against the Padres.

Advice: Doyle missed one game due to a chest injury, though his absence turned out to be short-lived. He hit seventh in the order and now has at least one hit in five of his last six starts. Overall, Doyle has maintained an impressive .291 batting average across 84 plate appearances, though he's still striking out at a 31 percent clip. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago

  • Takes loss in ugly outing
Mears (0-2) allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one to take the loss Monday against the Padres.

Advice: Mears was on the mound for the second consecutive day, this time in the eighth inning with the task of keeping the score knotted at 1-1. He got two outs across the first three batters he faced but then allowed a double and a pair of singles to account for the damage and take his second loss of the season. Mears has looked to be in the mix for saves and has been used in high-leverage spots early on this season, though this outing won't help his case. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago

  • Yields one run in five frames
Gomber tossed five innings, allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out two batters in a no-decision against San Diego on Monday.

Advice: Gomber induced just seven swinging strikes among his 95 pitches and punched out only two Padres, but he kept Colorado in the game despite allowing at least one baserunner in each of his five frames. The southpaw got only one run of support from the Rockies' offense, though that was enough for him to avoid taking the loss. Gomber has given up three or fewer runs in each of his past four starts, but he remains stuck on zero wins this season. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago

  • Claims eighth save Monday
Suarez earned a save against the Rockies on Monday, giving up two hits in a scoreless inning of work.

Advice: Suarez entered in the ninth inning with San Diego up by two runs and found himself in some trouble when two of the first three batters he faced notched a hit. However, the right-hander got Ryan McMahon to ground into a game-ending double play to escape the jam without a run charged to his ledger. Suarez has now competed eight straight scoreless appearances, and he's given up just one run over 10.2 frames on the season. With eight saves, he is tied with Clay Holmes for first in the majors in that category. Rotowire.com Today, 10:00 pm
  • Fans eight in victory Monday
Cease (3-1) earned the win over Colorado on Monday, allowing one run on one hit and no walks while striking out eight batters over seven innings.

Advice: Cease dominated the Rockies' lineup, yielding just one hit -- a fourth-inning Charlie Blackmon leadoff double that Colorado converted into its only run. The veteran hurler has notched a win in each of his past three starts, giving up just two earned runs and five hits while striking out 22 batters over 19 frames during that stretch. Cease's lack of free passes Monday was also a positive development after he had issued multiple walks in each of his first four starts of the campaign, including five in his previous outing. Cease's season ERA now sits at a sterling 1.82, which is tied for 10th in MLB among qualified starters. Rotowire.com Today, 9:53 pm

  • Suárez shuts down Angels for first win since 2016
Albert Suárez blanked the Angels for 5 2/3 innings in the Orioles’ 4-2 victory Monday.

Advice: Suárez won for the first time since June 23, 2016, when he outpitched the Pirates’ Jon Niese in a 5-3 victory for the Giants. It’s so long ago that no member of either team’s starting lineup is currently active in the majors (although both Starling Marte and Brandon Crawford did appear off the bench that day). Suárez got 16 missed swings tonight, half of them coming on his 94-mph fastball. He’s not guaranteed much additional time in the rotation with Kyle Bradish due back soon, but he should be a nice play if he gets to face the A’s on Sunday. Rotoworld Today, 9:44 pm
