    • Homer, steal in win
Chapman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Friday's 5-3 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Chapman's power has come back, as he has three extra-base hits -- including two homers -- over his last five games. The third baseman gave the Giants their first lead Friday with his sixth-inning blast. For the season, up to 10 homers, 35 RBI, 53 runs scored and seven steals while posting a .235/.316/.399 slash line over 80 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:37 pm

    • Matt Chapman homers, steals base in victory
Matt Chapman stole a base and hit a two-run homer in a win for the Giants on Friday over the Dodgers.

Advice: Chapman hit a two-run homer off Daniel Hudson for his 10th homer of the season, and he stole his seventh bag of the year for good measure. The 31-year-old has been a mild disappointment thus far in 2024 — depending on expectations, of course — with a .235/.316/.399 slash, but the homers and steals have help balance things out a bit. • Secures save Friday
Megill tossed a perfect ninth inning to earn a save against the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: Megill threw nine of 11 pitches for strikes and quickly worked through the Cubs' 6-7-8 hitters to finish the 4-2 victory. He's converted 11 straight save chances since his last blown opportunity May 20. During that stretch, he's produced a 1.32 ERA over 13.2 frames. Megill's season ERA is down to 1.71 alongside a 30:7 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:10 pm

    • Trevor Megill notches 17th save versus Cubs
Trevor Megill recorded his 17th save Friday with a perfect ninth against the Cubs.

Advice: Megill has allowed just one hit in his last six appearances and one run in 12 1/3 innings this month. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:08 pm

    • Allows three homers in loss
Flaherty (5-5) took the loss against the Angels on Thursday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Flaherty got tagged for a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the second before proceeding to strike out six of the next nine batters he faced. However, the right-hander would go on to surrender two more long balls on the night as the Tigers failed to back him with anything on offense. Flaherty had allowed one run or fewer in four consecutive starts coming in, and no runs in three of his previous four. The three home runs he gave up Thursday also marked a season high. • Jack Flaherty tagged for three homers in loss
Jack Flaherty lost to the Angels after allowing five runs in 5 2/3 innings on Thursday.

Advice: Flaherty surrendered three homers, matching his total from his previous six starts combined. He struck out seven and walked just one, but there was no overcoming the longball in this one. It’s the first time since Apr. 24 that he’s allowed more than three runs. • Red Sox activate Connor Wong from paternity list
Red Sox activated Connor Wong from the Paternity List.

Advice: Wong was placed on the paternity list on Monday and wound up missing two games for the Red Sox. He should be back in the starting lineup soon. Tyler Heineman was optioned back to Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Thursday, 10:03 am

    • Returns from paternity list
The Red Sox reinstated Wong (personal) from the paternity list Thursday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Wong missed the maximum three games while on paternity leave and will rejoin the Red Sox ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Padres. Tyler Heineman was optioned to Triple-A Worcester to clear room on the active roster for Wong, who should settle back in as Boston's No. 1 catcher while Reese McGuire serves as the backup. • George Kirby changed his curve grip in last start
George Kirby debuted a new curveball grip in Tuesday’s start, making the change “on the fly” before the game.

Advice: Kirby didn’t like how his curveball was performing against right-handed batters this season, so he decided to try a new grip before Tuesday’s start in order to “find something that has a little more depth and [he] can stay on the plate with it.” It seemed to work on Tuesday as Kirby threw just six curveballs but got five swings and two whiffs. The other swings resulted in foul balls and one groundout. Kirby mentioned that it’s a grip he’s used in the past and one he knows Zac Gallen uses. “I throw it a little bit harder, but it just kind of eliminates the horizontal movement, which, especially to righties, I kind of had a hard time with.” After a successful first attempt at the new grip, the modification may stay around, giving Kirby a little more fantasy upside in what is already a good season.
