    • Devin Williams (back) faces hitters on Tuesday
Debin Williams (back) faced hitters on Tuesday in a live batting practice session.

Advice: It was Williams’ first time facing hitters since spring training when he was shut down from throwing due to stress fractures in his back. The 29-year-old All-Star closer is expected to be ready to return to Milwaukee’s closer role at some point in the coming weeks, most likely not until after next week’s All-Star break. • Taking seat Tuesday
Taylor is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Taylor started the previous seven games but will sit after going 4-for-22 with two homers, six walks and eight strikeouts during that span. Cavan Biggio will take over at the hot corner Tuesday in Philadelphia. Rotowire.com Today, 12:46 pm

    • Three more hits in win
Lowe went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 9-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: Lowe continued a recent surge at the plate and has hit safely eight of nine games, going 15-for-36 (.417) with three home runs and 11 RBI over that stretch. After a brief stint batting third while Josh Smith was unavailable, Lowe has returned to the sixth spot in the order. Rotowire.com Today, 5:16 am
    • Holds Tigers scoreless
Williams allowed four hits and a walk over 5.1 shutout frames in a no-decision Monday. He struck out five during the loss to Detroit.

Advice: Williams wasn't overly efficient but he threw 62 of 89 pitches for strikes and allowed only one extra-base hit. The 24-year-old righty looked more like himself after being tagged with five runs in his season debut July 3. He threw 74 pitches in that outing and appears to be ready for a full workload. He'll carry a 4.82 ERA into his next start, which is lined up to be in Tampa Bay this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:15 pm
    • Williams bounces back against Tigers Monday
Gavin Williams tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings and got a no-decision against the Tigers on Monday.

Advice: Williams gave up four hits, walked one and struck out five. He allowed five runs in his first start since returning from the injured list, but bounced back nicely against the Tigers. He threw 89 pitches, exactly 15 more than the 74 he threw in his last start. Williams should be able to go over 100 pitches his next time out. The 24-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rays on the road this weekend.

    • Belts homer Sunday
Taylor went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's loss to Milwaukee.

Advice: Taylor accounted for Los Angeles' only two runs of the contest with his 403-foot blast in the sixth inning. The utility man has bounced back from an awful start to the campaign to slash .282/.404/.590 with three home runs, six RBI, 10 runs and two stolen bases over his past 15 games. Taylor has consequently started each of the Dodgers' past seven contests, and though he's hitting only .182 during that stretch, he has two long balls and a 6:8 BB:K. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:17 pm

    • Getting breather Monday
Martinez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: The Mets are concluding their four-game series with the Pirates with a Monday contest that begins at 12:35 p.m. ET, so Martinez is on the bench in what looks to be little more than a veteran's maintenance day. Francisco Alvarez will get a day off behind the dish and will occupy Martinez's usual spot in the lineup at designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:59 am

    • Keeps raking
Witt went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored during Sunday's 10-1 win over Colorado.

Advice: Witt clubbed his 15th home run of the season, taking Ty Blach yard for a three-run homer in the ninth inning. The 24-year-old shortstop was named an AL All-Star reserve and has shown exactly why he's deserving of the honor lately, batting 12-for-23 with three homers and nine runs scored across his last seven games Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:44 am

    • Allows rare run
Clase earned a save over the Giants on Sunday. He gave up a run on one hit in one inning of work.

Advice: Clase coughed up an out-of-character run on a Michael Conforto groundout. Clase was still able to close out the 5-4 win and pick up his 27th save of the year. He's given up just four earned runs through 42.1 innings this season, resulting in a 0.85 ERA. Sunday's outing snapped a nine-inning scoreless streak. Clase has converted 14 straight save chances and is 27-for-30 in 2024. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:43 pm
