    • Goes deep Monday
Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 6-0 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Goldschmidt has logged a trio of multi-hit efforts over his first seven contests in July, going 9-for-34 (.265) in that span. The first baseman is still struggling overall with a .229/.293/.369 slash line for the year, adding 12 homers, 34 RBI, 45 runs scored and six stolen bases across 87 games. He has five homers and 12 RBI over 28 contests since the start of June. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:46 pm
    • Paul Goldschmidt homers in victory over Nationals
Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a solo homer on Monday in the Cardinalsā€™ win over the Nationals.

Advice: Goldschmidt extended the Cardinalsā€™ early lead with a solo shot -- his 12th big fly of the season -- off Nationals starter Mitchell Parker in the fourth inning. He also reached on a fielding error and came around to score on a Brendan Donovan double in the eighth inning as well. The 36-year-old veteran first baseman has gone deep only five times over his last 30 games and simply hasnā€™t produced enough so far this season to remain rostered in shallow mixed leagues. • Day off Monday
Neto is not in the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Rangers.

Advice: It's Neto's first day off since May 24. The young shortstop is just 4-for-35 at the dish over his last nine games, so it's probably not a bad time to give him a day to clear his head. Luis Guillorme will fill in at short against Texas. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:48 pm

    • Receiving maintenance day
Robert is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Robert had started in each of the White Sox's previous 12 games, and with no word that he sustained any sort of injury in Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Marlins, he's most likely just getting a needed maintenance day Monday. With Robert on the bench, the White Sox will roll out a starting outfield of Andrew Benintendi, Tommy Pham and Gavin Sheets from left to right. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:48 pm

    • Mitch Keller lasts eight innings in victory
Mitch Keller threw eight innings and held the Mets to two runs in the Piratesā€™ 8-2 victory Monday.

Advice: Coming off consecutive subpar outings, Keller was terrific today, at least aside from a Brandon Nimmo two-run homer. He allowed nothing but singles otherwise, and he wound up with six strikeouts and no walks. Keller improved to 10-5 with a 3.40 ERA. Thatā€™s about what he was at this time last year, when he made his first All-Star team, but at least for now, heā€™s currently set to stay home next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:19 pm

    • Collects 10th win
Keller (10-5) earned the win Monday, allowing two runs on seven hits and no walks over eight innings against the Mets. He struck out six.

Advice: The 28-year-old cruised to his second straight season with double-digit wins, allowing just one extra-base hit -- a two-run Brandon Nimmo homer in the sixth. Keller has been reliable since June 1, pitching to a 3.09 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 44:8 K:BB over 43.2 innings across seven starts. The Pirates right-hander is scheduled to make his last outing of the first half against the White Sox in Chicago this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:22 pm

    • Resumes workouts
Carpenter (back) did some light jogging and played light catch on the field Monday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Carpenter appears to have resumed light baseball activities for the first time since experiencing a setback last week in his recovery from lumbar spine inflammation. The 26-year-old has been on the injured list since late May and is without a clear timetable for a return. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:56 am

    • Keeps running Sunday
Chisholm went 0-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the White Sox.

Advice: It's the third steal in the last four games for Chisholm, who's up to 17 stolen bases on the season -- his career high is 23, set back in 2021. The 26-year-old is finding ways to contribute, but he hasn't homered in 21 straight games, a stretch in which Chisholm is slashing .260/.345/.301 with just two extra-base hits, a double and a triple. • Tanner Houck changed weekly routine this season
According to The Athleticā€™s Jen McCaffrey, Tanner Houck made a few changes to his weekly routine that have helped lead to his breakout season.

Advice: Houck was recently named to the All-Star team after posting a 2.68 ERA in the first half of the season. While some of that success can obviously be attributed to improved command and a better attack plan against lefties, Houck also mentioned two changes that he and pitching coach Andrew Bailey made this offseason. Houck moved his lifting day up but also moved his mid-week bullpen session up a day, according to Bailey, ā€œJust gives them an extra 24 hours to recover, to maximize that recovery process, to really take inventory on the body and where itā€™s at...Being as far away removed from the highest workload event (pitching-wise) is probably the safest bet. And then that way, we can take an honest look at what can we get done today that sets us up for a competition.ā€ Houck also mentioned that those bullpens now feature fewer pitches since his mechanics feel a lot better this year and heā€™s now just focused on refining during those sessions. All of those changes seem to have worked for the 28-year-old, who is emerging as a legit front-of-the-rotation arm in Boston. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:00 am
