  • Solid in six spring appearances
Topa owns a 3.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 7:2 K:BB across six innings in six Cactus League appearances.

Advice: The big right-hander is an intriguing reclamation project of sorts for the Mariners after previously having undergone a pair of Tommy John surgeries and finishing last season with the Brewers on the injured list with an ankle contusion. Topa has appeared healthy this spring while working an inning apiece in each of his six appearances out of the bullpen. He projects for a low-leverage role to open the season, which will limit his fantasy appeal overall. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago
  • Austin Nola (nose) may be ready for Opening Day
Padres manager Bob Melvin told reporters on Tuesday that Austin Nola (nose) may be ready for Opening Day.

Advice: Nola suffered a slightly fractured nose when he was hit in the face by a pitch during Sunday's Cactus League contest. Fortunately, he's expected to resume baseball activities on Wednesday and the Padres believe there's a real chance he could avoid the injured list to start the season. • Angels reassign 12 to minor league camp on Tuesday
Angels reassigned RHPs Chris Devenski, Jonathan Holder and Cesar Valdez, LHPs Jake Kalish, Kenny Rosenberg and Cam Vieaux, OFs Luis Barrera, Trey Cabbage and Aaron Whitefield to minor league camp.

Advice: The Angels also reassigned infielders Taylor Jones and Kevin Padlo and catcher Myles Emmerson in the massive round of cuts. Devenski has the most big league experience of the bunch -- and probably had a shot at cracking the Opening Day bullpen with a strong showing in Cactus League play -- but he wound up posting a 9.00 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over his four innings of work. • Homers off Darvish in WBC loss
Schwarber homered and walked for Team USA in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Team Japan in the World Baseball Classic final.

Advice: Schwarber absolutely blistered a solo homer off Yu Darvish in the eighth inning to bring USA to within a run at 3-2. They would get no closer. Schwarber homered twice in the event while driving in four runs with a slash of .214/.450/.643 over seven games. Rotowire.com Today, 8:14 pm
  • Angels option Zack Weiss to Triple-A Salt Lake
Angels optioned RHP Zack Weiss to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: The 30-year-old hurler did a nice job with the Angels last September, but that didn't carry over to the Cactus League this spring. There, he posted a disappointing 15.75 ERA and 2.50 WHIP over his four innings of work. Weiss should get another opportunity with the big league club at some point during the 2023 campaign. • Angels option Livan Soto to Triple-A Salt Lake
Angels optioned INF Livan Soto to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: The 22-year-old held his own in Cactus League action this spring, hitting .278 (10-for-36) with a homer and three RBI, but it wasn't enough to earn a bench spot on the team's Opening Day roster. He'll start the 2023 campaign as the everyday shortstop at Triple-A Salt Lake, where he's just one small step away from the big leagues. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 8:09 pm

  • Angels option Chase Silseth to Triple-A Salt Lake
Angels optioned RHP Chase Silseth to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: The 22-year-old had been having a nice spring before he was destroyed in Monday's Cactus League loss to the Reds. Overall, he posted an 8.10 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over 13 1/3 innings. He'll start the year as extra rotation depth for the Angels at Triple-A Salt Lake but he'll assuredly get an opportunity with the big league club before season's end. • Rockies reassign Josh Rogers to minor league camp
Rockies reassigned LHP Josh Rogers to minor league camp.

Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw really struggled in Cactus League play, posting a 10.13 ERA, 2.25 WHIP and a 5/3 K/BB ratio across 5 1/3 innings in his six appearances. He'll attempt to right the ship at the Triple-A level where he'll function as additional rotation depth to begin the season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 8:02 pm

  • Homers again in loss to Japan
Turner hit a solo homer in Tuesday's loss to Japan in the World Baseball classic final.

Advice: Turner gave USA a 1-0 lead with a blast over the left-field wall. The shortstop homered five times in the tournament, and was arguably the best player in the loaded USA lineup. It just wasn't enough for the United States to take home the title. Turner now returns to camp for the Phillies to get ready for his first season as a member of the Philadelphia roster.
