• Nabs win as primary pitcher
Wilson (3-1) picked up the win Friday, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk over 5.1 relief innings in a 7-2 victory over the Red Sox. He struck out seven.

Advice: Jared Koenig got the nod as the opener but recorded only two outs and put two runners aboard before Wilson entered the game. Wilson struck out Tyler O'Neill to end the rally, the first of a season-high seven Ks for the 26-year-old right-hander as he generated 28 called or swinging strikes among his 80 pitches. In six trips to the mound since taking the place of DL Hall (knee) in the rotation, Wilson has posted a 2.67 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 26:15 K:BB over 30.1 innings, but Friday's win was his first in that stretch. Hall has worked only one-inning stints to begin his rehab assignment, perhaps signaling that Wilson's spot is secure even when the Brewers' staff gets healthier. Wilson lines up to make his next trip to the mound at home next week against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Today, 5:59 am

  • Rocked by Royals
Alexander (2-3) took the loss Friday as the Rays fell 8-1 to the Royals, surrendering eight runs on 11 hits and a walk over five relief innings. He struck out four.

Advice: The lefty entered the game after Shawn Armstrong delivered two perfect innings as the opener, but Kansas City quickly got to Alexander. The eight runs and 11 hits were both seasons worsts for the 29-year-old, and over his last three outings he's been tagged for 17 runs in 19.1 innings. Alexander will carry a 6.06 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 41:13 K:BB through 52 innings into his next appearance, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the A's. Rotowire.com Today, 5:49 am
  • Leaves with lower-leg injury
Urena was removed from Friday's game because of swelling in his left lower leg, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Urena was hit by a comebacker in the ankle area of his left leg during the third inning but remained in the game. He made it through another two innings and attempted to warm up for the sixth when the discomfort became too much. Texas manager Bruce Bochy said the team wasn't too concerned about the injury and that Urena will be checked out again Saturday. Rotowire.com Today, 5:41 am

  • Sharp in eighth win
Lugo (8-1) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over seven innings in an 8-1 victory over the Rays. He struck out three.

Advice: The veteran right-hander was stingy once again, giving up two earned runs or fewer for the sixth straight start despite a lack of dominance Friday (only eight swinging strikes among his 104 pitches). Lugo has gone 5-0 over that aforementioned six-start stretch with a 1.52 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 47:8 K:BB through 41.1 innings, and he'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come on the road next week in Minnesota. • MRI shows healing
Kelly (shoulder) underwent an MRI earlier this week, and it showed significant healing, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The results are encouraging, but the team will have multiple doctors review the images to be sure. Kelly was placed on the 15-day injured list April 23, two days after being scratched from a start, and then he was transferred to the 60-day IL on May 2. Rotowire.com Today, 4:27 am

  • Ty Blach works into seventh in victory
Ty Blach delivered a quality start against the Phillies on Friday, allowing two runs over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision.

Advice: The runs came on homers from Nick Castellanos and Edmundo Sora in the fifth, but Blach remained in and pitched two more innings afterwards. He was actually at just 78 pitches when came out. Blach has a solid 4.55 ERA in four starts and three relief appearances for the Rockies, even though he’s fanned just 12 batters in 27 2/3 innings. • Cristopher Sánchez limits Rockies to one run
Cristopher Sánchez held the Rockies to one run in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision Friday.

Advice: Sánchez’s velocity has been great in his last two starts, though it didn’t lead to strikeouts tonight (two) at Coors Field like it did last time (eight) against the Nationals. Sánchez lowered his ERA to 3.15, but he remained stuck on two wins. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:49 pm
  • Corbin Burnes solid for six in downing White Sox
Corbin Burnes allowed three runs over six innings Friday in a no-decision against the White Sox.

Advice: He struck out six and walked two. This season has not seen Burnes at his absolute best, but neither has he faltered at any point; he still hasn’t allowed more than three runs or pitched fewer than five innings in any of his 11 starts. His next turn will come against the Red Sox. It’s the only team he’s completed seven innings against this year, doing so in a 7-1 victory on Apr. 9. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:16 pm

  • Chris Flexen pulled in fifth against Orioles
Chris Flexen yielded four runs in 4 2/3 innings Friday in a no-decision versus the Orioles.

Advice: The White Sox are holding out hope that Flexen might bring back a minor prospect at the trade deadline, but he’s not doing them much good in the meantime. This leaves him with a 5.69 ERA in nine starts and two relief appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:16 pm
