• Set for second rehab start Thursday
Megill (shoulder) is scheduled to make the second start of his minor-league rehab assignment Thursday with Double-A Binghamton, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: On the shelf since April 1 with a right shoulder strain, Megill appears to be nearing the finish line of his recovery process after he began in his rehab assignment Saturday with High-A Brooklyn. Megill struck out six over two perfect innings with Brooklyn, but he'll move up a rung on the minor-league ladder and look to build up his pitch count to around 60 when he takes the mound again Thursday. After his upcoming outing with Binghamton, Megill will likely require one more rehab start beyond that before being deemed ready to rejoin the Mets rotation. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

  • Kicks off rehab assignment
Peterson (hip) will begin a rehab assignment Sunday with Single-A St. Lucie, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Peterson will likely be in store for a light workload as he begins his rehab assignment and makes his first appearance in affiliated ball Sept. 28, 2023. The southpaw, who underwent left hip surgery over the offseason, is on the Mets' 60-day injured list and is expected to be built up slowly over the next month before he's eligible for activation beginning May 27. Peterson's performance during the rehab assignment as well as the state of New York's rotation by late May will likely determine whether he takes back a starting spot upon his return or is eased back into the mix as a multi-inning reliever. • Out with shoulder inflammation
The Angels placed Cisnero on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right shoulder inflammation.

Advice: The right-hander presumably suffered the injury during his appearance against the Twins on Friday, when he allowed three runs over two-thirds of an inning. Ciscnero will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks but is without an official timeline for his return. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago

  • Entering big-league rotation
The Royals are planning to call up Bowlan from Triple-A Omaha on Monday to start the club's series opener in Toronto, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.

Advice: Bowlan will be entering the big-league rotation as a replacement for Alec Marsh (elbow), who was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday. The 27-year-old right-hander previously made a spot start among his two appearances with Kansas City in 2023, but Monday will mark his 2024 MLB debut. Over 21 innings at Omaha this season, Bowlan has submitted a 2.57 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago
  • Makes four-inning start at Triple-A
Meyer worked four innings in his start Saturday for Triple-A Jacksonville, striking out two while giving up four earned runs on six hits and no walks.

Advice: Meyer's results in his second start with Jacksonville were less noteworthy than the fact that he pitched at all for the Triple-A club, as the organization's decision to have him take the hill this weekend suggests that he isn't viewed as a candidate to fill the rotation spot at the big-league level that recently opened up when Jesus Luzardo (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list. Despite Meyer's success in his three outings with the big club earlier this season (2.12 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB in 17 innings), the Marlins seem committed to keeping him on a once-a-week pitching schedule in the minors wherein he makes abbreviated starts, as the organization is keen on managing his 2024 workload coming off his August 2022 Tommy John surgery. Meyer is expected to rejoin the big-league rotation at some point in the second half of the season, though he could still operate under some restrictions with his innings or pitch counts at that time. • DFA'd by Philly
The Phillies designated Pinto for assignment on Sunday.

Advice: Pinto had his contract selected from Tripel-A Lehigh Valley in early April and allowed 13 earned runs with an 8:5 K:BB over 10.2 innings while up with the Phillies. The right-hander should return to Lehigh Valley if he passes through waivers unclaimed. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago
  • Checks out of starting nine
Moore is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: After starting each of the past four games at shortstop while producing three hits and adding two stolen bases and one run over 12 at-bats, Moore will give way to Leonardo Rivas in the series finale. Moore should still see the bulk of the starts at shortstop for the duration of J.P. Crawford's (oblique) stay on the injured list. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

  • Draws third straight start
Raley will start in right field and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Raley had started both of the last two games in left field, but he'll head over to right field in the series finale while Mitch Haniger gets the day off. Haniger appears to be entrenched as the Mariners' preferred right fielder, but the playing time in left field seems to be tilting in Raley's favor of late. Both Raley and Clase are likely to eventually lose out on opportunities in the Seattle outfield once Dominic Canzone (shoulder) returns from the injured list. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago

  • Receives breather Sunday
Raleigh is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Raleigh started the past three days after missing one contest due to dental procedure, and he'll sit Sunday with it being a day game after a night game. Seby Zavala is starting behind the plate to catch for righty Logan Gilbert. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago
