• Goes deep again Saturday
Smith went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-3 win against Milwaukee.

Advice: After belting three solo homers Friday, Smith smashed a two-run shot in his first at-bat Saturday. Per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, the backstop became the first Dodger to homer in four straight at-bats since Adrian Gonzalez in 2015 and the first major-leaguer to do so since Jose Altuve in September of last season. Smith's two-game power surge has pushed him to 15 long balls on the campaign, tied for third among MLB catchers. Rotowire.com Today, 7:27 am

  • Kevin Pillar likely to retire after 2024 campaign
Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that Kevin Pillar is likely to retire after the 2024 season.

Advice: Pillar just recently reached 10 years of MLB service, a big deal as it means that his pension is now fully vested. The 35-year-old outfielder has been outstanding since joining the Angels with a slash of .299/.355/.512 over his 138 at-bats, so it’s possible if he keeps playing well he could change his mind. For now it appears this will be the last year of MLB action for the outfielder. Rotoworld Today, 6:46 am

  • Swipes bag No. 20
Young went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 14-6 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: The 24-year-old center fielder doesn't offer much with his bat while hitting at the bottom of the order for the Nationals, but Young continues to cause a nuisance when he reaches base. Through 78 big-league games this season he's slashing .261/.321/.327 with one homer, 18 RBI, 45 runs and 20 steals in 25 attempts. Washington's youth movement is in full swing, but Young isn't necessarily guaranteed to keep his spot in the starting lineup as Dylan Crews could be the next prospect the team brings up to The Show. • Folds early against Cards
Gore came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 14-6 win over St. Louis, coughing up five runs on six hits and five walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The southpaw has shown improved control and command overall in 2024, but Gore couldn't find the plate Saturday and needed 90 pitches (52 strikes) to record 10 outs, failing to take advantage of a huge offensive outburst by the Nats. He's failed to complete six innings in four straight outings and six of seven since the beginning of June, stumbling to a 5.35 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB through 35.1 innings over that stretch. Gore will try to get back on track in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week against the Mets. Rotowire.com Today, 6:25 am
  • Will Smith homers again as Dodgers top Brewers
Will Smith homered again on Saturday, powering the Dodgers to a 5-3 victory over the visiting Brewers.

Advice: After homering in each of his final three at-bats on Friday night, Smith left the yard in his fourth straight at-bat with his 369-foot (101.6 mph EV) two-run shot off of Freddy Peralta in the opening inning on Saturday. In doing so, he became just the third player in Dodgers’ history to homer in four straight at-bats, joining Adrian Gonzalez (2015) and Shawn Green (2002). That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the night, but it played a significant role in propelling the Dodgers to victory. On the season, the 29-year-old backstop is now slashing .276/.348/.509 with 15 homers and 55 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:16 pm

  • Fires eight scoreless in win
Anderson (8-8) earned the win over the Cubs on Saturday, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out 10 over eight scoreless innings.

Advice: Anderson was magnificent, generating an eye-popping 22 swinging strikes and a season-high 10 punchouts. He leaned on his changeup, throwing it 30 times and accumulating 11 whiffs. The southpaw responded in a major way after allowing a season-high six earned runs last Sunday. He now owns a 2.81 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 77:47 K:BB over 112 innings this season and lines up for a home matchup with the Mariners next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:40 pm
  • Strikes out eight in win
Ryan (6-5) earned the win against the Astros on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk with eight strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Ryan surrendered a run in the third inning and a two-run homer in the fourth while receiving plenty of early run support from his teammates. He generated 15 swinging strikes on 110 pitches and has completed at least five frames in each of his 18 starts this season. On the year, the 28-year-old owns an impressive 3.29 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 118:16 K:BB through 109.1 innings and lines up to face the Giants next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:58 pm

  • Gore allows five runs in no-decision Saturday
Mackenzie Gore allowed five runs in 3 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Nationals’ 14-6 victory over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Gore gave up six hits, walked five and struck out five. The Nationals led 9-0 after two innings and Gore still couldn’t complete the necessary five innings to get the win. He’s allowed five runs in two of his last three starts and has a 3.83 ERA on the year. The 25-year-old left-hander is set to face the Mets on the road next week.

  • Runs bases with no issues
Manager Rob Thomson said Saturday that Harper (hamstring) had a "good day" running the bases and that the 31-year-old will run the bases again Sunday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Harper has been out with a low-grade hamstring strain since June 27, but he's been progressing well enough to potentially return prior to the All-Star break. He was participating in on-field drills at 70-75 percent intensity earlier this week. Harper becomes eligible to come off the injured list Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:41 pm
