• Pokes homer in loss
Smith went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's 7-3 loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Smith launched a two-run shot in the eighth inning, his 11th of the season. With news that third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) is progressing well on a rehab assignment, Smith will soon find a new home in the Rangers' lineup, likely as the primary designated hitter. • Smacks 19th homer
Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI on Sunday against the Rangers.

Advice: Guerrero's blast with one out in the third was his 19th of the season and sixth over the last 10 games, a stretch during which he's collected at least one hit in each contest. Guerrero, who added an RBI sacrifice fly in the first, is batting .472 over his 10-game hitting streak with six homers, three doubles, 10 RBI and 12 runs scored. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:09 pm
  • Willi Castro has three hits in win
Willi Castro went 3-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored in a 5-0 win over the Tigers on Sunday.

Advice: Castro had three singles and didn’t swipe a base, but scoring twice isn’t so bad. The 27-year-old continues to lead off against right-handed pitching but had struggled in July coming into today, hitting just .189 in 19 games with no stolen bases. Perhaps this could be a turning point. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:12 pm

  • Vlad Jr. homers in win
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in a win over the Rangers on Sunday.

Advice: He also added a sacrifice fly and now has 19 home runs and 64 RBI on the season. If only other players in the Blue Jays lineup were performing up to the same standards they wouldn’t be sellers at the trade deadline. Vlad Jr.'s strong season comes with a 17.6 percent HR/FB ratio which is up from last year but still below the 2022 season and well below the bouncy-ball 2021 season. It’s looking increasingly like Vlad Jr. is a 30 home run bat the big league level and not the 40-plus home run guy we saw in 2021, but he should still remain tremendously valuable in fantasy leagues. • Smith has a combo meal in loss to Blue Jays
Josh Smith went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in a loss to the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Advice: Smith’s home run was a 404-foot shot at 101.8 mph for his 11th of the season. His steal was also his seventh of the year to go along with a .282/.379/.452 slash line. The 26-year-old is enjoying a breakout season and has single-handedly won the 2021 trade that sent Joey Gallo to the Yankees for Smith, Ezequiel Duran, 2B/OF Trevor Hauver, and RHP Glenn Otto. The Rangers will find a way to keep him in the lineup even when Josh Jung returns. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:42 pm

  • Clase nails down 33rd save of the season
Emmanuel Clase threw a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 4-3 win over the Phillies on Sunday.

Advice: We’re running out of superlatives for Clase, who now has a 0.73 ERA and 33 saves on the season. He’s just, like, really good. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:21 pm
  • Belts 13th homer
Contreras went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Contreras opened the scoring with his first-inning blast off Washington starter DJ Herz. This was Contreras' second game in a row with a homer, and he's gone deep three times over nine contests since the All-Star break. The steady catcher is up to 13 long balls, 29 RBI, 37 runs scored and three stolen bases while slashing .274/.394/.519 through 60 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:14 pm

  • Notches save No. 33
Clase struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning to pick up his 33rd save of the season Sunday against the Phillies.

Advice: Clase needed just seven pitches to secure the one-run victory for the Guardians, notching his fourth save in six days. The 26-year-old has been utterly dominant this season, pitching to a 0.73 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 42:6 K:BB in 49.1 innings. Clase is now tied with Ryan Helsley for the league lead in saves with 33. • Reaches base four times
Castro went 3-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored Sunday against the Tigers.

Advice: Castro entered Sunday's contest mired in a 7-for-45 slump but broke out to help spark the Twins offense during their 5-0 win. His slash line now stands at .263/.353/.411 with 24 doubles, five triples, seven homers, 34 RBI, 60 runs and 10 steals in 17 attempts over 425 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:32 pm
