    • Plays catch before Sunday's game
Fried (forearm) threw a ball in the outfield before Sunday's game, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The southpaw didn't appear to be bothered by the nerve inflammation in his forearm that landed him on the IL on July 21. "Max is feeling better," manager Brian Snitker said Sunday. "He'll amp up as they see fit, but just talking to him the last couple of days, I think he likes where he's at right now. No timetable or anything like that, we'll just take it day to day and see where he's at. But it sounds pretty good." It's not yet clear whether Fried will need a rehab assignment before returning to the Atlanta rotation, but with Reynaldo Lopez (forearm) leaving his start early Sunday, the team may have incentive to get Fried back as soon as possible. • Earns 18th save
Munoz walked one batter in a scoreless inning and picked up a save against the White Sox on Sunday.

Advice: Munoz struggled with his command a bit after Saturday's four-out save; he threw 11 of 20 pitches for strikes but still finished off the 6-3 win. He extended his scoreless streak to 10.1 innings and is now 18 for 21 in save chances this season. Munoz lowered his ERA to 1.28 alongside a 51:19 K:BB through 42.1 frames. • Brenton Doyle leaves game with finger contusion
Brenton Doyle was removed from Sunday’s game against the Giants in the third inning due to a finger contusion.

Advice: The 26-year-old outfielder wanted to express his frustration after striking out in the first inning on Sunday and angrily threw a towel against a training kit in the dugout. The training kit fought back though as Doyle hit his finger against it in the incident and suffered a contusion. He stayed in the game another inning but ultimately realized that he couldn’t grip a bat or a baseball which is why he was removed. It doesn’t sound like a long-term thing, so Doyle should be considered day-to-day for the time being. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:29 pm

    • Dealing with finger injury
Doyle exited Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Giants in the bottom of the third inning with an apparent right index finger contusion, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Advice: Doyle left the game early Sunday after injuring the finger when he threw a towel in the dugout in frustration after a first-inning strikeout and accidentally hit the digit on a training kit. The outfielder is considered day-to-day heading into the Rockies' upcoming series with the Angels, which begins Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:13 pm

    • Goes yard Sunday
Hernandez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Astros.

Advice: Hernandez gave the Dodgers some breathing room with his eighth-inning blast off Houston reliever Bryan King. This was Hernandez's first homer and first multi-hit effort in his last six games. The outfielder continues to be an engine for Los Angeles, slashing .265/.330/.483 with 22 homers, 69 RBI, 53 runs scored, 20 doubles and four stolen bases through 105 contests this season. • Mashes 14th homer
Riley went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored Sunday against the Mets.

Advice: Riley entered Sunday's contest mired in a 2-for-21 slump but collected two hits, including his 14th dinger of the season. Riley left the yard for the fifth time this month but still carries a substandard slash line of .254/.323/.452 over 381 plate appearances and remains on pace to finish with fewer than 30 homers for the first time in four seasons. • Andrés Muñoz earns 18th save
Andrés Muñoz worked around a walk in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save against the White Sox on Sunday.

Advice: Muñoz battled through increasing rain to lock down this save. His velocity was down a few ticks across the board, but that can likely be attributed to the wet conditions he was pitching in. There’s some fear Yimi García siphons off some save chances from Muñoz as Ryne Stanek did at times this year, but it hasn’t happened yet as Muñoz grabbed saves in back-to-back games to close out this weekend series. • Austin Riley on base three times, homers in win
Austin Riley went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, two RBI, and a walk in the Braves’ lopsided 9-2 victory over the Mets on Sunday.

Advice: Riley rudely greeted new Met reliever Ryne Stanek with a towering home run that nearly hit the facing of the second deck in the seventh inning to all but put this game away. Suddenly, Riley has his OPS up to .771 after it sat at a lowly .618 on June 13th. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:35 pm

    • Cubs officially acquire Isaac Paredes from Rays
Cubs acquired INF Isaac Paredes from the Rays for INF/OF Christopher Morel, RHP Hunter Bigge and RHP Ty Johnson.

Advice: The 25-year-old slugger returns to the organization where he began his professional career and should add some immediate thump to the middle of a Cubs’ lineup that has been lacking power. Paredes — who is under team control through the 2027 season — has slashed a healthy .247/.355/.438 with 16 homers and 55 RBI on the season. He should function as the team’s everyday third baseman for the foreseeable future. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:21 pm
