• Rockies select contract of RHP Tanner Gordon
Rockies selected the contract of RHP Tanner Gordon from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: Gordon is up to make his MLB debut against the Brewers on Sunday. The 26-year-old right-hander posted a 4.91 ERA and 36/10 K/BB over his 40 1/3 innings in Triple-A. It would be a mistake to trust the 26-year-old as a streaming option for Sunday’s tilt. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:56 am
  • Getting first MLB start Sunday
Gordon will be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Sunday's game against the Royals at Coors Field, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: Ryan Feltner had previously been confirmed as the Rockies' starter for Sunday's series finale, but he'll end up getting pushed back to Monday in Cincinnati, where he's expected to have several family and friends on hand to watch him pitch. The change in the pitching schedule thus opens up a temporary spot in the rotation for Gordon, who will be making his MLB debut Sunday. The 26-year-old rigthy has made seven starts this season with Albuquerque, accruing a 5.35 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB in 33.2 innings. His underwhelming numbers at the Triple-A level in addition to having to pitch in a hitter-friendly environment in Coors Field in his MLB debut makes Gordon an unappealing streaming option for Sunday. • Tanner Gordon to make MLB debut on Sunday
Tanner Gordon will be promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque to make his MLB debut against the Brewers on Sunday.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander has made nine starts in the minors this season, primarily at Triple-A Albuquerque, where he has compiled a 4.91 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a 36/10 K/BB ratio over his 40 1/3 innings of work. Ryan Feltner, who had originally been scheduled to pitch on Sunday, will be pushed back until next week. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:27 pm
  • Back from injured list
The Royals reinstated Bubic (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Advice: Bubic has been on the injured list all season while working his way back from the Tommy John procedure he underwent last April. In nine rehab appearances with Triple-A Omaha, the 26-year-old lefty posted a 2.63 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 27.1 innings. He'll transition to the bullpen as he returns to Kansas City and will likely serve in a multi-inning relief role. Walter Pennington was optioned to Omaha in order to make room on the active roster, and Colin Selby was DFA'd to clear a 40-man spot. Rotowire.com Saturday, 2:13 pm
  • Royals activate Kris Bubic (elbow) from 60-day IL
Royals activated LHP Kris Bubic from the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The 26-year-old southpaw will work out of the Royals’ bullpen for the time being as he continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery. Bubic logged 35 2/3 innings on his minor league rehab assignment, registering a 3.53 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 42/13 K/BB ratio. Walter Pennington was optioned to Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move on Saturday. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:10 pm
  • Collects eighth save
Kopech gave up a run on two hits and a walk over 1.1 innings Friday to record his eighth save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Marlins. He struck out one.

Advice: With two on and two outs in the ninth inning, Kopech gave up an RBI single to Bryan De La Cruz, but he then got Josh Bell to ground out to escape the jam. Kopech isn't exactly locked in right now, stumbling to a 6.91 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB over his last 14.1 innings while blowing three of six save chances, but the White Sox seem content to deploy him at the team's closer for now, perhaps in an effort to increase his trade value. • Struggles after rain delay
Houck came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning win over the Yankees, giving up three runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out one.

Advice: The right-hander was looking sharp early, but a 38-minute rain delay in the middle of the third inning caused Houck to lose his focus, and he fell apart completely in the fourth. He's winless in his last four starts, stumbling to a 5.40 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 17:8 K:BB through 20 innings over that stretch, but he figures to bounce back in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against Oakland. • Tanner Houck pulled during sloppy fourth inning
Tanner Houck was charged with three runs — one earned — in 3 1/3 innings Friday versus the Yankees.

Advice: Houck lost his command after a brief rain delay interrupted his start tonight, but he still would have gotten through four scoreless if Enmanuel Valdez hadn’t botched a double play ball, resulting in no outs. At the same time, it wasn’t Valdez’s fault that Houck walked three in the inning. On the night, just 33 of his 68 pitches were strikes. It was a second straight rough outing, though at least this one didn’t take a toll on his ERA, which is still fifth in the AL at 2.68. Rotoworld Friday, 10:58 pm
  • Strikes out 10 in loss
Gausman (6-8) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out 10 over six innings to take the loss Friday versus the Mariners.

Advice: Gausman allowed a two-run double to Luke Raley in the third inning, and that was enough to stick him with his fourth loss in five outings. This was his third 10-strikeout game of the year, as well as his third quality start over his last seven games. He's at a 4.64 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 101:27 K:BB through 97 innings over 18 starts overall. Gausman's next start is projected to be on the road in San Francisco. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:19 pm
