• Matt Chapman has two hits, HR in loss
Matt Chapman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in a loss to the Pirates on Tuesday.

Advice: Chapman had three of the four hardest-hit balls on the Giants during the game. He had a 113.1 mph groundout, a 106.4 mph double, and a 104.8 mph home run that traveled 414 feet. He also added another 103.2 mph groundout, so it’s safe to say he was seeing the ball pretty well on Tuesday. The veteran is now 19-for-68 (.279) with two home runs, 15 runs scored, and eight RBI during May. He continues to hit cleanup for the Giants every game and is an underrated fantasy option. • Torres’ three-run homer not enough in Yanks loss
Gleyber Torres went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Torres’ three-run homer in the seventh gave the Yankees their first runs of the evening after they spent the first six innings being stifled by Bryan Woo. Torres’ homer, his third on the season, ended shutout but didn’t prove to be enough for the Yankees, who were held scoreless the rest of the way. Torres is slashing a mere .223/.301/.310 on the season and is hitting .227 in the month of May. Rotoworld Today, 7:19 pm
  • Locks down ninth save
Alvarado earned the save in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Rangers, allowing one hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: The Rangers got the tying run to the plate with one out in the ninth after an error and a Leody Taveras base hit. However, Alvarado would proceed to strike out Marcus Semien and Corey Seager, picking up his ninth save in a 5-2 win. While the Phillies have utilized a modified committee approach to the ninth inning, the left-handed Alvarado has established himself as their preferred closing option. His ERA sits at 3.54 with a 1.03 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB across 20.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 7:19 pm
  • Martín Pérez struggles with command vs SF
Martín Pérez allowed four runs (two runs) on five hits in 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Giants.

Advice: Pérez struck out four but walked three on the day. He started just 10 of the 22 batters he faced with a first-pitch strike and had a zone rate of 36 percent overall which is not good. It led to a 19 percent CSW on the day, and he’s lucky the final line wasn’t much worse. He’ll take a 4.80 ERA into a weekend showdown against the Braves and should not be started in fantasy leagues. • Schmidt allows two earned in loss to Mariners
Clarke Schmidt allowed two earned runs and four hits over five innings in the Yankees’ loss to the Mariners.

Advice: The two earned runs Schmidt allowed came on a two-run homer by Dylan Moore on a pitch that was off the outside black of the plate. It was a well-thrown pitch that resulted in an unfortunate outcome for Schmidt, who was otherwise solid on the evening. He walked just two batters while striking out six and has now struck out six or more batters in seven of his 10 starts. Schmidt is scheduled to make his next start on Sunday against the Padres. • Dylan Moore homers twice as Mariners down Yankees
Dylan Moore went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Yankees.

Advice: Moore pulled a pitch on the outside black of the plate 402 feet to left field for a two-run homer to give the Mariners a lead in the top of the third. He would later single in the seventh inning to drive in Mitch Garver and homered again in the ninth, accounting for four of the Mariners’ six runs driven in on the afternoon. Moore hasn’t hit for much of an average but has provided solid power and run support at the bottom of the Mariners’ lineup. Rotoworld Today, 7:16 pm

  • Logan Webb let down by bullpen on Tuesday
Logan Webb allowed two runs on six hits in six innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on Tuesday.

Advice: Webb left the game with a 5-2 lead and watched as the Giants blew a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the ninth before losing in extra innings. Webb went back to a change-up-heavy approach on Tuesday, registering just a 17 percent whiff rate but a 28 percent CSW. However, he also allowed an average exit velocity on contact of 96.7 mph and allowed 11 hard-hit baseballs. Lucky for him, just one of those went for extra bases and he was able to lower his ERA to 3.03 on the year. He has a solid start lined up against the Mets this weekend. Rotoworld Today, 7:14 pm
  • Alec Marsh fans five in win over Tigers
Alec Marsh allowed three earned runs on five hits over six innings, earning the win in the Royals’ win over the Tigers.

Advice: Marsh was able to sit in cruise control for much of this one. The Royals gave him a six run lead to work with early in the game, as Marsh went on to strike out five batters while allowing just three runs – all of which came in the fourth inning. Now sitting at 4-1 on the year and boasting a 2.72 ERA, Marsh will look to earn his fifth win of the season on Monday against the Twins. Rotoworld Today, 7:10 pm

  • José Alvarado closes out win for Phillies
José Alvarado pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn a save in the Phillies’ 5-2 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Alvarado did allow a hit, but he also struck out two and was in no real danger in the inning as he picked up his ninth save of the year. Despite it seeming like the Phillies would go to a closer-by-committee situation earlier in the year, Alvarado has recorded four of the team’s six saves during the month and has now allowed eight hits while striking out six and walking none in 8 2/3 innings. We wouldn’t go so far as to say the job is fully his, but he’s clearly far out in front of the pack. Rotoworld Today, 7:10 pm
