    • Aaron Nola strikes out eight in win
Aaron Nola allowed three earned runs across six innings in a win Friday against the Braves. He struck out eight without walking a batter.

Advice: Nola was fantastic in this one. His 21 swings-and-misses were the most he’s forced in a game this season and first time he’s hit that total since June 5th of last year. His vaunted knuckle curve stymied the Braves all night and Nola looked dominant despite the three runs. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

    • Delivers quality start
Nola (10-4) yielded three runs on five hits over six innings Friday, striking out eight and earning a win over Atlanta.

Advice: Nola got through three shutout frames before coughing up a two-run shot to Austin Riley in the fourth inning. Ozzie Albies then knocked a solo homer in the sixth. It was the first time that Nola gave up multiple home runs since May 31 after allowing three in the entire month of June. He forced a season-high 21 swinging strikes, with 10 coming on the knuckle curve. He's delivered quality starts in nine of his last 10 outings, including four straight. During that 10-start stretch, the veteran righty has posted a 3.34 ERA while going 6-2. Nola will carry a 3.48 ERA into his next outing, which is currently lined up to be at home against the Dodgers. • Officially activated
The Padres reinstated Campusano (thumb) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Advice: A bruised thumb has kept Campusano on the IL since June 22, though he's managed to go 2-for-15 with four RBI in four rehab games at Single-A. He'll take a seat Friday while Kyle Higashioka catches for Randy Vasquez, but Campusano is slated to return behind the plate Sunday. Rotowire.com Today, 5:03 pm
    • Padres activate Luis Campusano from 10-day IL
Padres activated C Luis Campusano from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The 25-year-old has been shelved since June 21 due to a left thumb contusion. While he was activated, Campusano is not in the Padres’ starting lineup on Friday night, it’s Kyle Higashioka behind the dish. Eguy Rosario was optioned to Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 4:51 pm
    • Returning from IL
Campusano (thumb) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Campusano has been on the injured list since June 22 due to a left thumb injury and has played four rehab games with Single-A Lake Elsinore, during which he went 2-for-15 with a homer and four RBI. The 25-year-old backstop said he will resume catching for the Padres on Sunday, per Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune, at which point he should take over for Kyle Higashioka as the Friars' primary backstop. Campusano has slashed .234/.282/.371 across 220 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Today, 3:37 pm
    • Sitting against southpaw
Melendez isn't in the Royals' lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Melendez will retreat to the dugout Friday as left-handed starter Kyle Freeland starts on the bump for Colorado. Dairon Blanco, Garrett Hampson and Hunter Renfroe will make up the Royals' outfield while Melendez rests. Rotowire.com Today, 2:22 pm

    • Another monster performance
Walker went 2-for-3 with two homers, three RBI and three runs scored in Thursday's win over the Dodgers while also drawing two walks.

Advice: Walker was at it again Thursday, going back-to-back with Joc Pederson in the opening frame for the first baseman's first home run of the contest before smacking a two-run shot in his next at-bat. The 33-year-old has now clubbed two home runs in back-to-back games and has gone deep in three consecutive contests overall. Furthermore, Thursday marked his fourth straight game with multiple RBI and his fifth straight game with multiple hits. Over that latter stretch Walker's batting .650 (13-for-20) with five homers, 11 RBI and eight runs scored. Rotowire.com Today, 7:35 am
    • Steals base in loss
Garcia went 0-for-3 with a walk and a steal in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Garcia stole his seventh bag of the season in the fourth inning, then was thrown out at home trying to score on Leody Taveras' single. Garcia, who stole 25 bases (on 31 attempts) in 2022, is an occasional base stealer these days. He was successful on nine of 10 attempts last year and on seven of nine thus far in 2024. Thursday's walk extended Garcia's on-base streak to 14 games, during he has logged a .350 OBP. Rotowire.com Today, 6:15 am

    • Allows one run in save
Fairbanks picked up the save over the Royals on Thursday, allowing one run on one hit over one inning while striking out one.

Advice: Fairbanks entered the contest with a three-run lead in the bottom of the ninth and retired the first two batters in succession before surrendering a solo homer to Bobby Witt. The right-hander was then able to get Vinnie Pasquantino to ground out for the final out of the game, securing his 14th save of the season. Fairbanks has now converted each of his last four save attempts, though he's also allowed a run in four of his last nine appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 4:20 am
