    • Activated from injured list
The Pirates activated Hayes (back) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Hayes has been sidelined since early May with a back injury but will skip a rehab assignment and go directly back on the Pirates' active roster. The third baseman is slashing a disappointing .240/.322/.318 with just one home run and zero stolen bases this season. Rotowire.com 52 minutes ago

    • Pirates reinstate Ke’Bryan Hayes off injured list
Pirates reinstated INF Ke’Bryan Hayes off the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Hayes is back after missing three weeks with inflammation in his back. The 27-year-old hasn’t been successful in 2024 when health with a .640 OPS, but he was a solid option in 2023 with enough talent to suggest as a speculative add for those who need help in the corner infield. • Drives in run in return
Murphy went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's loss to the Nationals.

Advice: Seeing his first MLB action since Opening Day, Murphy hit fifth in the order and brought home Marcell Ozuna with a groundout in the seventh inning. With Ronald Acuna (knee) lost for the season, Atlanta needs Murphy to quickly regain the form that saw him set career highs with 21 homers and an .843 OPS in 2023. Rotowire.com Today, 6:45 am

    • Cronenworth has double, RBI against Marlins Monday
Jake Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI against the Marlins on Monday.

Advice: Cronenworth’s bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning was the difference in the Padres’ 2-1 victory over the Marlins. He continues to play second base after the Padres’ trade for Luis Arraez. Cronenworth’s average is up to .271 and his OPS is up to .806, both of which would be career-highs. Morton (3-2) took the loss Monday against Washington, allowing eight runs on 12 hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: The 40-year-old Morton allowed a career-high 12 hits in this start as the Nationals laced eight singles, three doubles and one homer. However, he also managed to generate an impressive 18 whiffs en route to his seven punchouts. Overall, the Atlanta veteran owns a 4.29 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 59:23 K:BB in 56.2 innings this season. Morton is currently slated to face Oakland at home in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:04 pm
    • Tosses seven shutout in no-decision
Steele did not factor into the decision Monday against Milwaukee, allowing three hits and one walk over seven shutout innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Steele posted his best start since returning from a hamstring injury May 6, generating 13 whiffs in 93 total pitches. The Cubs lefty limited a ferocious Brewers offense that entered with the fourth-best team wRC+ at 115, allowing Milwaukee to scatter only four singles. Steele's ERA is now 4.45 over total 32.1 innings with 31:7 K:BB. The 28-year-old is currently slated to face the Reds at home in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:33 pm
    • Fans seven in quality start
Gasser did not factor into the decision Monday against the Cubs, allowing three hits and no walks over six shutout innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Gasser dominated the Cubs, pounding them with a sound five-pitch mix to collect his second career quality start. The 24-year-old rookie has impressed in 23 innings so far, producing a 1.96 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 13:1 K:BB. Things have been excellent under the hood too, as he owns a 2.52 FIP and 47.3 percent groundball rate. Gasser is tentatively set to make his next scheduled start against the White Sox at home. • Morton hit hard in loss against the Nationals Monday
Charlie Morton allowed eight runs in 5 ⅔ innings and took the loss against the Nationals on Monday.

Advice: Morton allowed 12 hits, walked two and struck out seven. Despite allowing four runs in the first inning, the Braves let Morton work through it and the Nationals offense didn’t let up as he had his worst start of the season. His ERA increased from 3.35 to 4.29. The 40-year-old right-hander will look to turn the page in his next start against the Athletics at home this weekend.

    • Gasser strikes out seven in no-decision Monday
Robert Gasser threw six shutout innings and got the no-decision in the Brewers’ 5-1 victory over the Cubs on Monday.

Advice: Gasser left the game in the seventh inning with two on and nobody. Reliever Bryan Hudson escaped the jam without any runs being charged to Gasser, who allowed only three hits and struck out seven. He lowered his ERA to 1.96 in four starts. Gasser has a SO:BB of 13:1 and 47 percent ground ball percentage. He’s certainly a promising rookie, though he’s probably due to give up some runs eventually as his xFIP is 3.99. The 24-year-old left-hander is set to face the White Sox at home this weekend.
