    • Takes no-decision versus Angels
Scherzer allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and struck out six without walking a batter over 6.2 innings, taking a no-decision Tuesday versus the Angels.

Advice: Scherzer allowed a pair of solo home runs to Logan O'Hoppe in the contest. This was Scherzer's second quality start in a row, and he threw 95 pitches (70 strikes). It appears he's clear for a full workload after easing back into action following a lengthy absence due to offseason back surgery as well as thumb and forearm issues. The right-hander is now at a 3.09 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB through 23.1 innings across four starts. The Rangers are off Thursday, so it is likely Scherzer is done for the first half of the campaign, which should afford him some extra rest before Texas hosts the Orioles coming out of the All-Star break. • Jake Cronenworth hits 13th homer in defeat
Jake Cronenworth hit his 13th homer Tuesday in a losing cause against the Mariners.

Advice: We wonder how Cronenworth feels about the Padres essentially taking him out of the mix for an All-Star nod by listing him at first base and Luis Arraez at second base on the ballot. Arraez went on to make the team at the much weaker position, and Cronenworth is staying home despite being the better hitter of the two this year and easily the more valuable defender. That’s not to say Cronenworth necessarily would have made the team at second — Brice Turang probably had the better argument behind starter Ketel Marte — but he certainly wasn’t going to as a first baseman. • Max Scherzer goes 6 2/3 innings in no-decision
Max Scherzer yielded four runs — three earned — in 6 2/3 innings Tuesday in a no-decision versus the Angels.

Advice: Scherzer struck out six with a fine 32% CSW and walked none in his longest start of the year to date. Unfortunately, it needed to be one out longer for him to get the win, as the Rangers only went ahead for good in the top of the eighth. The Rangers are off Thursday, so unless something changes, Scherzer won’t pitch again until after the break. Rotoworld Today, 9:41 pm

    • Brenton Doyle smacks two more homers
Brenton Doyle went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs, a double, and a walk on Tuesday against the Reds.

Advice: Doyle has been on fire. The two long balls give him six already in July and he’s been one of the standout performers over the past month of the season. He has a .300/.350/.564 slash line over his last 30 games with eight homers, six steals, and 22 RBI. The defensive standout has done well to be more patient and do significantly more damage on pitches inside the strike zone so far this season. Rotoworld Today, 8:12 pm

    • Drops fifth straight
Rodon (9-7) took the loss Tuesday against the Rays, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Rodon allowed four straight hits to open the bottom of the first inning, including an Isaac Paredes three-run homer that extended Tampa's lead to 4-1. While Rodon would blank the Rays over his final three innings, the Yankees couldn't climb out of the early hole in an eventual 5-3 loss. It's the fifth straight loss for the 31-year-old left-hander -- he's struggled to a 10.50 ERA in that span, allowing 27 earned runs across 23 innings. Overall, Rodon sports a 4.63 ERA across 19 starts (103 innings) this year with a 1.26 WHIP and 105:30 K:BB. He'll look to right the ship in his next outing, currently slated for this weekend on the road versus Baltimore. Rotowire.com Today, 7:47 pm

    • Three hits, grand slam in victory
Turner went 3-for-4 with a grand slam in Tuesday's 10-1 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Turner's grand slam off Bobby Miller put the Phillies ahead 8-0 in the fourth inning. It's the fifth homer in eight games for Turner, who's now batting .341 (28-for-82) with 17 RBI in 19 games since returning from the injured list on June 17. He's slashing .342/.387/.516 through 235 plate appearances this season with eight homers, 27 RBI, 44 runs scored and 11 stolen bases. Rotowire.com Today, 7:11 pm

    • Rodón has another rough start in loss
Carlos Rodón allowed four runs on five hits in four innings in a loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

Advice: Rodón now has a 10.37 ERA over his last five starts, allowing 27 earned runs in 23 innings. He’s continuing to put up solid strikeout totals and posted an impressive 45 percent whiff rate on Tuesday, but that doesn’t matter much when he continues to give up so many runs. The average exit velocity allowed on all contact for Rodón was 94.1 mph, which means when hitters are making contact, they’re doing so with authority. The fastball has been particularly problematic with teams seeming to key in on it. The average exit velocity on Rodón’s fastball today was 100.9 mph. Yes, that was the average. He’ll carry a 4.63 ERA into a tough matchup against Baltimore this weekend. Rotoworld Today, 6:58 pm

    • Trea Turner drives in four in win
Trea Turner went 3-for-4 with a run scored and four RBI in a 10-1 win over the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Advice: Turner did his best to earn his All-Star bid here with a grand slam off of Bobby Miller in the fourth inning for his eighth home run of the season. He also added a 101.3 mph single and a bloop single for his third hit. He’s now slashing .342/.387/.516 on the season and has been really good when healthy. Rotoworld Today, 6:51 pm

    • Oneil Cruz out Tuesday with hamstring injury
Oneil Cruz is absent from the lineup for Tuesday’s contest against the Mets due to hamstring tightness.

Advice: Cruz was removed from Monday’s series opener due to hamstring tightness and will get an extra day off on Tuesday night to rest and recover. Pirates manager Derek Shelton told reporters Cruz was feeling better on Tuesday so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Today, 4:44 pm
