      Rodriguez (9-3) earned the win over Cleveland on Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out four batters over seven innings.

      Advice: Rodriguez was tagged for seven runs over five innings against Houston during his previous trip to the mound, but he was much better Wednesday, notching his seventh quality start of the campaign and his ninth victory. The right-hander did give up two home runs, but both were of the solo variety, and they accounted for the only scores the Guardians managed against him. Rodriguez has been good at limiting long balls this season -- Wednesday marked just the second time he has allowed multiple homers -- and he's completed at least five frames in all but one of his 14 starts.       Goldschmidt went 2-for-7 with a double, a walk, one RBI, one stolen base and two runs scored across both games of Wednesday's doubleheader versus Atlanta.

      Advice: While far from a breakout on offense, Goldschmidt has hit safely in nine straight games. In that span, he's gone 11-for-37 (.297) with a 3:12 BB:K, two home runs and five RBI. The first baseman's power and consistency are slowly returning, but he's still striking out at a 29.5-percent rate, his worst mark since his rookie year.     • Grayson Rodriguez goes seven strong in win
      Grayson Rodriguez allowed two runs across seven innings in a 4-2 win over the Guardians. He struck out four without walking a batter.

      Advice: Rodriguez’s changeup was especially lethal in this one: dropping three inches more than his season average and forcing five swings and misses. He ended his day on a beautiful one low and out of the zone to Brayan Rocchio that got him through seven innings for the second time in three starts.     • Ryan Pepiot strikes out eight on Wednesday vs. Mariners
      Ryan Pepiot recorded eight strikeouts and allowed one run over 5 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Mariners.

      Advice: Pepiot carried a shutout into the sixth inning before being lifted from the contest at 88 pitches (54 strikes) after issuing a one-out walk to J.P. Crawford. He wound up being charged with that run when reliever Shawn Armstrong served up a three-run homer to Cal Raleigh later in the frame. The 26-year-old righty generated 15 swinging strikes, including nine on his four-seam fastball alone, and finished with a respectable 29 percent CSW. It was a nice effort from Pepiot considering he failed to complete five frames in each of his previous two outings.       Advice: Pepiot only allowed three runners to reach in a solid showing that was spoiled by his bullpen after he was pulled in the sixth. For the fourth time this season, he struck out eight or more batters in a start. Despite the good strikeout numbers, the 26-year-old struggles to get deep into games as he has yet to pitch past the sixth inning in 14 starts.       Advice: Crawford had an all-around showing Wednesday, reaching base three times and picking up his third stolen base of the season. The three steals are already more than he had all of last season. The 29-year-old extended his hitting streak to a season-best seven games.       Advice: Soto plated the Yankees' first run with his solo shot in the fifth inning, though the Mets had already built a big lead by that time. The long ball was the first extra-base hit over the outfielder's past eight games, and he's batted an uncharacteristically poor .160 (4-for-25) during that stretch. Soto has continued to reach base consistently, however, due to his willingness to take a walk -- across the eight-game span, he's accumulated an 11:6 BB:K, and he leads the league with 65 total walks on the season.       Advice: It's the 32-year-old's first multi-hit performance since June 9, with McNeil batting a brutal .088 (3-for-34) in between. The career .291 hitter is slashing just .216/.281/.298 on the season, and his lengthy slump -- as well as a hot start to Jose Iglesias' Mets tenure -- has put McNeil's playing time in a bit of jeopardy.
