    • Bryan Woo gets no-decision despite six scoreless
      Bryan Woo didn’t allow a run over six innings against the Angels on Friday, but also didn’t factor into the decision.

      Advice: Woo threw just 66 pitches with 47 of them landing in the strike zone, but the Mariners continue to play things cautiously with the 24-year-old in his second MLB season and coming off an injury that caused him to miss a month. Unfortunately it didn’t work out for Seattle, as the 4-0 lead he entered with quickly became a 4-4 game on a grand slam for Jo Adell. Still, another strong outing for Woo that sees his ERA fall to a glistening 1.30. He isn’t missing a ton of bats, but his ability to avoid hard contact has been elite thus far.     • Ezequiel Tovar picks up three hits, homers in win
      Ezequiel Tovar went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in a win Friday against the Dodgers.

      Advice: Tovar gave the Rockies a 4-0 lead with a solo homer in the fourth off Walker Buehler. The shortstop has homered eight times in 2024 with five of them coming in May. Tovar still needs to show a little more consistency to reach an elite level, but the talent is there for him to reach that lofty status in the coming years. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:47 pm
       
    • Suffers first loss
      Blanco (5-1) took the loss Friday against Minnesota, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Blanco faced 20 batters, marking a season low, not including his May 14 start against Oakland when he was ejected after three innings for a foreign substance. The Houston right-hander also yielded a season-high four runs, pushing his ERA up to 2.44 overall in 59 innings.       Bibee (4-1) allowed a run on three hits and a walk over 6.1 innings Friday, striking out seven and earning a win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Bibee dominated in six shutout frames before Washington finally pushed home a run in the seventh. He's turned in three straight quality starts, dropping his season ERA from 4.34 to 3.74 during that span. The 25-year-old righty has allowed two or fewer runs in seven of his first 12 starts.     • Mark Canha undergoes additional testing on hip
      Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters after Friday’s loss to the Red Sox that Mark Canha underwent additional testing on his injured left hip.

      Advice: Canha was a late scratch from Friday’s lineup with the hip issue — which apparently has been bothering him for some time now and finally told the Tigers that he couldn’t play through it any longer.     • Tanner Bibee blazes past Nationals for win
      Tanner Bibee allowed one earned run across 6 ⅓ innings in a 7-1 win over the Nationals on Friday. He struck out seven and walked one.

      Advice: This was a tremendous start for Bibee mostly fueled by increased fastball velocity. His heater ticked up to 98 MPH and averaged 95.5 MPH, but tailed off in the seventh inning as the Nationals started to get around on him. This was the second time in three starts Bibee’s fastball averaged at least 95.5 MPH and keeping the velocity on that pitch up is the key to his success. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:40 pm
       
    • Mark Canha scratched Friday with sore left hip
      Mark Canha was scratched from the Tigers’ starting lineup on Friday due to soreness in his left hip.

      Advice: The 35-year-old outfielder is considered day-to-day. Andy Ibanez will replace him in the team’s starting lineup at second base with Colt Keith shifting to the designated hitter spot.
