• Dylan Moore homers and steals base in loss
Dylan Moore homered and stole a base Thursday in a loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Moore shellacked a Logan Allen pitch in the first inning to give Seattle a 2-0 lead. The steal gives the 31-year-old 13 on the season, and it’s the eighth homer of the season. Moore has scuffled in June with a .512 OPS, but he has homered in two of his last three games, and his power/speed combo will always be intriguing. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:41 pm

  • Thairo Estrada not in the lineup on Thursday
Thairo Estrada is not in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals.

Advice: It appears to be a routine day off for Estrada, who was involved in a minor collision at first base yesterday but remained in the game. The 28-year-old has not been having a great season, hitting .240 with just one steal in 71 games. He’s also hitting .211 with 13 strikeouts over 14 games in June, so things haven’t been ticking up of late either. The Giants will move Brett Wisely to second base and start Nick Ahmed at shortstop. • Taking seat Thursday
Estrada is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Cardinals.

Advice: The Giants are giving Brett Wisely a start at second base and Nick Ahmed will be his double-play partner at shortstop. It seems to be a routine day off for Estrada, who had started each of the previous 14 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:30 pm
  • Maikel Garcia gets a day off on Thursday
Maikel Garcia is not in the Royals’ lineup for Thursday’s game against the Athletics.

Advice: The 24-year-old is hitting just .145 in 16 games in June with 12 strikeouts. He does have four steals and 10 runs scored and is coming off a month of May where he hit .305, so this might be nothing but a brief cold stretch. The Royals will hope a day off helps him get back on track. In the meantime, Garrett Hampson will start at second base and hit eighth with Nick Loftin moving over to third base. • Absent from lineup
Mateo is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Yankees.

Advice: Mateo had a couple hits and a run scored in Wednesday's extra-inning victory over the Yankees, but he'll nonetheless begin Thursday's festivities on the bench. Jordan Westburg is at second base and Ramon Urias will play third. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:42 am

  • Tallies three hits Wednesday
Volpe went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs Wednesday in an extra-inning loss to Baltimore.

Advice: Volpe set the table well out of the leadoff spot, reaching base four times and notching his sixth effort of at least three hits this season. The second-year shortstop came up with a clutch hit in the ninth inning, doubling to left field and later coming home to score the game-tying run on a Giancarlo Stanton single. Volpe had been struggling coming into Wednesday, going 3-for-23 with seven strikeouts over his previous five contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:35 am
  • Begins hitting progression
Hernaiz (ankle) has begun a hitting progression, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Hernaiz was able to shed his walking boot in the first half of June, and he's now graduated to baseball work from the strength and fitness program. The infielder will likely progress to full baseball activities after the hitting progression before eventually embarking on what could be a fairly robust rehab assignment. • Added as 27th man
The Giants recalled Fitzgerald from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday.

Advice: Fitzgerald will serve as the team's 27th man during Thursday's game against the Cardinals at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Ala. The utility player is likely to be sent back to Sacramento following the contest. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:11 am
  • Reaches three times in win
Schuemann went 0-for-2 with three walks and a run in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Schuemann's busy night on the basepaths surprisingly led to only one run, but it did push his OBP back up to an improving .318. The rookie has hit safely in three of the last four games, and his walk rate has now hit double digits (10.1 percent) after also sitting at that threshold in each of the last six minor-league stops before his promotion.
