    • Yordan Alvarez homers, picks up three hits in win
Yordan Alvarez homered and went 3-for-5 with two RBI in a 5-3 victory for Houston over the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Alvarez smoked a homer in the first inning off Chris Flexen to give the Astros a 1-0 lead, and he tied the game at 3-3 with his single in the seventh. The 26-year-old outfielder has now driven in 39 runs, and it’s the 15th homer of the campaign. Simply put, Alvarez is one of the best hitters in baseball, and it’s only the lack of stolen bases that keeps him from the cream of the crop of fantasy players. Rotoworld Today, 2:04 pm

    • Luis Castillo struggles in start vs. Guardians
Luis Castillo gave up five runs in five innings against the Guardians on Thursday while picking up a loss.

Advice: Castillo allowed eight hits and two walks while striking out four. He gave up two homers in the outing; a solo blast by Will Brennan, and a two-run shot to Andres Gimenez in the fifth. It’s a disappointing outing for the right-hander, and it’s the second time in three outings he’s given up five runs in as many frames. Expect Castillo to bounce back next week against the Rays in Tampa. Rotoworld Today, 12:38 pm
    • Nolan Arenado (elbow) not in Thursday’s lineup
Nolan Arenado (elbow) is not in the lineup for Thursday’s showdown against the Giants.

Advice: As expected, Arenado is sitting out Thursday’s series opener against the Giants after X-rays came back negative on is left elbow after being hit by a pitch during Wednesday’s game against the Marlins. He had previously said he hoped to return by Saturday, so the Cardinals will continue to give him a couple of days off. Brandon Crawford will start at third base on Thursday and bat seventh. • Sitting as expected
Arenado (elbow) isn't in the starting lineup Thursday against the Giants, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Arenado said Wednesday that he's aiming to return to the Cardinals' lineup Saturday, so his absence from Thursday's starting nine hardly comes as a surprise. Brandon Crawford will get the nod at the hot corner and bat seventh while Arenado continues to recover. Rotowire.com Today, 11:49 am

    • Yordan Alvarez returns to lineup on Thursday
Yordan Alvarez is back in the lineup for Thursday’s contest against the White Sox.

Advice: Alvarez was out of the lineup for the last two days while tending to a family matter, but he’ll be back in Houston’s lineup hitting third for Thursday’s showdown in Chicago. The 26-year-old has been stellar this season and is seeing the ball very well in June. He should obviously be back in fantasy lineups. Rotoworld Today, 8:44 am

    • Rejoining lineup Thursday
Alvarez (personal) will serve as the Astros' designated hitter and No. 3 batter in Thursday's game against the White Sox, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Alvarez was away from the Astros for the last two days to tend to a family matter, but he caught a flight back to Chicago and rejoined the team in time for the series finale with the White Sox. Before his brief absence, Alvarez had been sizzling at the plate in June, producing a monstrous 1.212 OPS over 14 games on the month. Rotowire.com Today, 8:36 am

    • Taking seat Thursday
Correa is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays.

Advice: After seeing his nine-game hitting streak come to an end with an 0-for-5 performance in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning loss, Correa will get a breather for the series finale with Tampa Bay. Kyle Farmer will spell him at shortstop Thursday. Rotowire.com Today, 7:17 am
    • Ekes out quality start Wednesday
Pfaadt (3-6) took the loss Wednesday, giving up three runs on five hits and four walks over 6.1 innings as the Diamondbacks fell 3-1 to the Nationals. He failed to strike out a batter.

Advice: To say the 25-year-old right-hander wasn't fooling anyone Wednesday would be an understatement. Pfaadt not only came up empty in strikeouts while issuing a season high in walks, he didn't generate a single swinging strike among his 77 pitches. He was still able to produce enough weak contact to deliver his second straight quality start and eighth of the season, however. Pfaadt will take a 4.37 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 84:22 K:BB through 90.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Twins. Rotowire.com Today, 6:11 am
    • Earns fourth win
Adam (4-1) didn't allow a baserunner and struck out one to earn the win Wednesday against the Twins.

Advice: Adam entered the game in the ninth inning with the score tied, 2-2, and turned in his eighth scoreless performance in his last 10 appearances. He has a 9:1 K:BB in that span, though he has allowed three earned runs. While Pete Fairbanks (thumb) isn't expected to be sidelined long, Adam could get a short-term look in save scenarios.
