    • Jon Gray (groin) to face live hitters on Monday
Jon Gray (groin) is scheduled to face live hitters on Monday.

Advice: The Rangers remain hopeful that Gray will only need a minimum stint on the injured list, so there’s a lot riding on Monday’s session. If all goes well there, he could be cleared to return to the rotation later in the week without needing a minor league rehab assignment. The 32-year-old hurler has been sidelined since May 22 due to a right groin strain. Rotoworld Today, 5:47 am

    • Scheduled for live batters
Gray (groin) is scheduled to face live hitters Monday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: A clearer indication of when Gray could return from the 15-day injured list should emerge following Monday's session. At the time of his placement on the IL, the right-hander wasn't expected to miss much more than the minimum 15 days. Per Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, Gray could be an option to rejoin the Texas rotation as soon as Friday versus the Giants if Monday's live session goes off without a hitch. • Locks down save
Helsley struck out two without allowing a hit or a walk in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Phillies.

Advice: A flyout allowed the initial runner to advance to third base, but Helsley struck out the next two batters to close this game. It was encouraging to see the 29-year-old have a dominant outing after allowing four runs over his previous three appearances. He's earned a save in eight straight outings despite his recent shakiness, and he still has a 2.42 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 27:6 K:BB over 26 innings while converting 19 of 20 save chances this season. • Ryan Helsley closes out Phillies in 10th inning
Ryan Helsley closed out the Phillies in the 10th inning on Sunday night, working a scoreless frame to protect a one-run advantage.

Advice: The 29-year-old right-hander had to do some work, as Bryce Harper advanced to third base on a fly ball to start the inning, but Helsley battled back to strike out Cristian Pache and Nick Castellanos to leave the tying run stranded there. Helsley has now racked up a league-leading 19 saves on the season to go with a terrific 2.42 ERA and a 27/6 K/BB ratio over 26 innings of work. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:16 pm
    • Holds on for save
Garcia secured a save after he pitched one inning, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three batters in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Garcia entered the game in the top of the ninth inning, tasked with protecting a 5-3 lead. He surrendered a leadoff double to Oneil Cruz, then struck out back-to-back batters before Rowdy Tellez notched an RBI single. Garcia then punched out Ji Hwan Bae to end the contest, securing his third save of the season. He now possesses a 1.57 ERA and 0.74 WHIP on the year while striking out 29 batters over 23 innings in 22 appearances out of the bullpen. Garcia is likely the primary ninth-inning option for Toronto due to Jordan Romano (shoulder) being on the 15-day injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:15 pm
    • Picks up sixth save
Fairbanks allowed one hit during one scoreless inning to pick up the save Sunday against the Orioles.

Advice: Fairbanks worked around a two-out single to pick up his sixth save. It was his third save since May 11, when he made his return from a stint on the IL. Over the three weeks since his return, he's appeared in 10 games and has yet to allow an earned run while allowing nine baserunners and striking out nine over 10 innings. • Yimi García shaky, earns save vs. Pirates
Yimi García allowed two hits and an earned run in an uneven save against the Pirates on Sunday.

Advice: He also struck out three. Toronto went right to García with Jordan Romano back on the IL for the save. Oneil Cruz scalded a double 111.8 MPH to start the ninth inning and came around to score, but García still closed it out. He looks to be secure in the role while Romano is out. • Pete Fairbanks picks up sixth save
Pete Fairbanks worked a scoreless ninth and earned a save Sunday against the Orioles.

Advice: Fairbanks has settled three saves in three weeks since coming off the IL last month, but he’s been exceptional. The only run he’s allowed in 10 appearances was an unearned one from the automatic runner scoring in extra innings. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:47 pm
    • Throwing at 80 mph
Ohtani has reached 80 mph during his throwing program, per MLB.com.

Advice: Ohtani has been throwing since late March and has progressed to a distance of 60 feet. The two-way star won't see any game action as a pitcher this season, so it's logical that the Dodgers will be very cautious in managing his throwing progression. Though he's working only as a batter this season, Ohtani is once again in the MVP discussion with a .326/.395/.604 slash line, 14 home runs, 38 RBI, 41 runs and 14 stolen bases through 57 games.
