    • Records 11th save
Scott earned a save against the Phillies on Thursday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Scott made quick work of Philadelphia in the ninth frame, retiring the side in order on nine pitches. The lefty closer has not given up a run in any of his past seven outings, tallying a win and three saves despite a mediocre 5:3 K:BB over seven innings during that span. Scott is 11-for-13 in save chances on the season and has an excellent 1.54 ERA across 35 frames. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago

    • De La Cruz hits RBI triple, steals base in win
Elly De La Cruz went 3-for-5 with a run scored, a triple, an RBI and a stolen base against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: De La Cruz’s RBI triple off Miles Mikolas in the first inning started the scoring for Cincinnati. He later stole his 38th base of the season. De La Cruz is hitting .255 with an .815 OPS and 36 RBI on the year.

    • Goes deep, swipes bag in win
Hoerner went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Thursday's 5-3, 10-inning win over the Giants.

Advice: Hoerner blasted his third home run of the season in the third inning with a runner on and also stole his 14th base of the year The infielder is not known as a big power threat, as his career best in homers for a season is only 10, but he is a capable baserunner. Hoerner swiped a career-high 43 bases last year, and he had 20 stolen bases in 2022. Fantasy managers will hope he continues to run frequently the rest of the way. Rotowire.com Today, 7:31 pm

    • Tanner Scott collects 11th save on Thursday
Tanner Scott tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday against the Phillies to notch his 11th save of the season.

Advice: Scott was summoned to protect a three-run lead against the division-rival Phillies and set down the side in order on just nine pitches (six strikes). The 29-year-old lefty has converted 11 of 13 save opportunities to accompany a 1.54 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 36/23 K/BB ratio across 35 innings (34 appearances). He hasn’t allowed a run in seven consecutive appearances since June 17. Rotoworld Today, 6:26 pm

    • Sale strikes out 11 in hard-luck loss to former team
Chris Sale struck out 11 over seven innings of one-run baseball, but picked up a loss Thursday as the White Sox beat Atlanta 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Advice: Sale was facing his former team in the White Sox, and while he gets credited for the loss, it was a dominant effort for the 35-year-old. The only blemish came when he gave up a solo homer to Luis Robert Jr. in the first, and he allowed just three more hits while missing plenty of bats. It’s the third time Sale has picked up double-digit strikeouts — the 11 are a season high — and he’s now the owner of a 2.79 ERA and 118/17 K/BB over 15 starts. He gets the Giants next. • Scratched from Thursday's lineup
Stephenson was scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Cardinals, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Stephenson was scratched moments before first pitch to be present for the birth of his child. He'll likely be placed on the paternity list and will miss between one and three additional games. Luke Maile took over behind the dish. Rotowire.com Today, 4:55 pm

    • Tyler Stephenson scratched from Thursday’s lineup
Tyler Stephenson was scratched from the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Stephenson left the club on Thursday evening to be with his pregnant wife, according to a team statement. There’s a strong possibility he’s away from the team for the next couple days. It’ll be Luke Maile handling the catching duties in his absence. Austin Wynns would most likely come back up from Triple-A Louisville, if he’s gone more than a day or two. • Nico Hoerner homers, steals base in victory
Nico Hoerner went 3-for-5 with a homer and a stolen base for the Cubs in an extra-inning win over the Giants on Thursday.

Advice: Hoerner swatted a two-run blast off Jordan Hicks in the third inning to give the Cubs a 2-0 lead. That’s only the third homer of the season for the 27-year-old, but the steal was already the 14th of the year. Hoerner missed time with a hairline fracture in his hand, and he’s a good bet to see a much higher average than the .246 mark he’s put up thus far in the second half. Rotoworld Today, 4:51 pm

    • Not starting Thursday
Sheets (heel) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: Sheets was forced out of Wednesday's 4-0 loss to the Dodgers with a bruised left heel and is considered day-to-day. The 28-year-old could end up filling more of a part-time role for the White Sox moving forward in the wake of Eloy Jimenez's recent return from the injured list, so Sheets may not re-enter the lineup for a few more days even if he quickly shakes off the heel injury.
