    • Jhoan Duran locks down sixth save against Rangers
Jhoan Duran struck out one batter in a clean ninth inning to earn the save against the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: After the Twins came back to take a two-run lead in the bottom of the eighth, Duran was summoned to close it out in the top of the ninth. He struck out one batter in a clean frame on just eight pitches, shutting the door on the Rangers for his sixth save. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

    • Gerrit Cole (elbow) faces hitters again Saturday
Gerrit Cole (elbow) faced hitters on Saturday in a simulated game.

Advice: The emergence of dynamic righty Luis Gil has lessened the urgency for New York to rush Cole back in their starting rotation mix. The 33-year-old righty hasn’t ruled out a potential June return, but he’s going to need to progress to at least a handful of minor league rehab starts to build up his pitch count and stamina before that happens. • Goes deep again Friday
Bleday went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and three total runs scored in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Bleday has found his swing with a homer in three straight games and a seven-game hitting streak. During that latter stretch, he's gone 9-for-33 (.273) with eight extra-base hits. The outfielder is slashing .247/.317/.478 with eight homers, 22 RBI, 21 runs scored, 15 doubles, two triples and no stolen bases over 206 plate appearances this season. Bleday's held a starting role all season, and that's not going to change while he's swinging a hot bat. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:20 pm

    • Jhoan Durán throws hitless inning for save
Jhoan Durán worked a hitless ninth for his fifth save Friday against the Rangers.

Advice: After giving up runs in his previous three appearances, Duran had a pretty easy one tonight, though he did walk a batter. Duran had his worst fastball velocity of the season last time out, averaging 99.0 mph, but he was back up to 101.0 mph tonight, which is obviously good news. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:06 pm

    • Records seventh save
Hader struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 6-3 win over the Athletics.

Advice: Hader has not allowed a hit over his last five appearances spanning seven innings, and he has a 12:2 K:BB with three saves and two wins in that span. The Astros are trending upward as well, which has given Hader more consistent work. The southpaw is at a 3.91 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 37:9 K:BB over 23 innings while converting seven of eight save chances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:00 pm

    • Secures fifth save
Duran allowed a walk and struck out one batter in a scoreless inning to earn a save over the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Duran worked around a two-out walk to finish off a 3-2 win. He'd been tagged with five runs in 2.2 innings over his previous three outings after beginning the year with a seven-inning scoreless streak. Friday's outing was his first scoreless appearance since May 12 and lowered his ERA to 4.22 alongside an 11:4 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:23 pm

    • JJ Bleday stays hot with homer, but Athletics lose
JJ Bleday homered and scored three runs in a loss Friday to the Athletics.

Advice: Bleday has now homered in three straight games, and this one was a solo shot off Justin Verlander to give him eight on the season. The 26-year-old has shown some flashes in 2024 of why he was the fourth pick of the 2019 MLB Draft, but his lack of success prior to this season — and really this month — is reason to give pause in terms of making him a fantasy addition. • Josh Hader whiffs two while picking up save
Josh Hader struck out two over a scoreless ninth to get a save Friday against the Athletics.

Advice: Hader didn’t allow a hit and needed just 10 pitches to get through the inning even with the two strikeouts. The southpaw has now saved seven games, and his ERA has dropped to 3.91 after a few ugly outings to begin the campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:15 pm

    • Coughs up five runs
Paxton allowed five runs on five hits and four walks over 4.2 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out four during the Dodgers' loss to the Reds.

Advice: Paxton got off to a rough start by yielding a three-run shot to Spencer Steer in the first inning. The Reds's bats then went quiet until a six-run fifth inning. Paxton was charged with two of those as he gave up a season-high five runs during his shortest outing of the year. The veteran southpaw saw his ERA jump from 2.84 to 3.49 through 49 frames. Paxton is still 5-0 despite some recent struggles (4.13 ERA over his last five starts). His next outing is projected to come on the road against the Mets next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:15 pm
