• Sitting in second straight game
Walls is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: The switch-hitting Walls is sitting against a right-handed starting pitcher (Hurston Waldrep) for the second day in a row, perhaps hinting that he hasn't quite locked down an everyday role at shortstop since his return from the injured list June 7. Walls had started in six of the Rays' ensuing eight games following his reinstatement, but he went just 2-for-18 with three walks against 10 strikeouts during that stretch. Jose Caballero (calf) and Amed Rosario look to be Walls' main threats for playing time at shortstop. Rotowire.com Today, 9:35 am

  • Exiting starting nine
Solano is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Advice: Solano had started each of the last eight games -- with seven coming at third base -- and went 5-for-29 with two home runs, three walks, six RBI and four runs. He should continue to have a regular spot in the lineup versus left-handed pitching, but Solano's opportunities to play against righties will likely become more limited now that Manny Machado is playing third base again after he had relegated to designated-hitter duties recently following his return from a right hip flexor strain. • On bench Sunday
Turner is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: George Springer will get the start at DH as Addison Barger takes over in right field against right-hander Ben Lively. Age has caught up to Turner in a hurry -- he's slashing .225/.314/.345 with four home runs this season -- and the veteran will likely continue to receive regular rest days as the Blue Jays work in newcomers like Barger and Spencer Horwitz. • Singles in first rehab game
Polanco (hamstring) started at designated hitter in High-A Everett's win over Eugene on Saturday and went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Advice: Polanco was lifted for a pinch hitter in the ninth inning, but he got a solid amount of plate appearances in during his first game action of any kind since May 26. The veteran infielder is slated to play with the AquaSox again Sunday before shifting his rehab assignment to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday, per Ryan Division of The Seattle Times. • First career steal in loss
Locklear went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in a loss to the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: The rookie was able to reach safely for the fourth consecutive game despite not getting a hit for the first time in that span, and he parlayed his one trip on the basepaths into his first career big-league steal. Locklear is still having trouble making consistent contact as he acclimates to major-league arms -- he's struck out at a massive 40.0 percent clip in his first 25 plate appearances -- but his impressive body of work at the plate over multiple levels of the minors suggests he has the ability to progressively turn things around in that department. • Clubs three-run homer
Sosa went 3-for-5 in Saturday's win over Arizona with a double and a three-run home run.

Advice: Sosa singled in his third trip to the plate and was later thrown out at home on a fielder's choice play. However, he would come right back with a two-out, three-run home run in the following inning to increase the White Sox's lead to five runs while also adding a double in the ninth. It marked the third baseman's first three-hit performance of the season and his fifth multi-hit effort this month, where he's now batting .333 with two homers and seven RBI. • Continuing ramp-up process
Angels manager Ron Washington said Tuesday that Rendon (hamstring) was scheduled to field more grounders to his left and right this week before resuming running drills, MLB.com reports.

Advice: It's not clear how Rendon responded to incorporating more lateral movement into his fielding work, but the 34-year-old generally looks to be trending in the right direction as he works his way back from the left hamstring strain that has kept him out since April 20. He remains without a clear target date for a return from the 60-day IL, but if he's able to increase his running work in the coming days, the Angels could begin the process of outlining a minor-league rehab assignment for the veteran third baseman. • Lenyn Sosa homers, drives in three in blowout win
Lenyn Sosa went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer to help the White Sox to a 9-2 victory over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Advice: Sosa nearly doubled the lead for the White Sox with a three-run homer to make it 7-2 in the seventh. The 24-year-old also doubled and singled. There have been some flashes for Sosa thus far in 2024 — albeit inconsistent ones — and the three-hit game improves his slash to .250/.291/.392. He remains much more a long-term option than a quality one for the remainder of this campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:08 pm

  • Starting rehab assignment
Polanco (hamstring) is playing in a rehab game Saturday at High-A Everett, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Advice: Polanco will remain at Everett for a few games before continuing his rehab at Triple-A Tacoma. The second baseman has been ramping up over the past week and is feeling good enough to begin playing games. Polanco is on track for a late-June return after straining his right hamstring May 26.
