    • James Outman tallies four hits, homers Friday at AAA
James Outman went 4-for-6 with a three-run homer and four RBI on Friday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: Outman was demoted to the minors a couple weeks ago after posting a disastrous .516 OPS with three homers and two steals in 36 games for Los Angeles, but he appears to be finding his groove at the dish again. The 27-year-old’s four-hit performance gives him a 1.245 OPS with three homers and four steals in just 10 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City. There isn’t exactly a path to at-bats with the Dodgers at the moment, but he figures to get another shot at some point later this season. Rotoworld Today, 5:13 am

    • MJ Melendez goes 0-for-4 in loss to Padres
MJ Melendez finished 0-for-4 while his teammates were combining to score eight runs Friday against the Padres.

Advice: Melendez will likely turn this around if the Royals stick with him long enough, but at this point, sending him down for 2-3 weeks would make sense. He’s sitting at .172/.233/.337 for the season. Drew Waters wouldn’t necessarily be a better bet, but at least he’d improve the defense in left if given a shot. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:00 pm

    • Mark Canha undergoes additional testing on hip
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters after Friday’s loss to the Red Sox that Mark Canha underwent additional testing on his injured left hip.

Advice: Canha was a late scratch from Friday’s lineup with the hip issue — which apparently has been bothering him for some time now and finally told the Tigers that he couldn’t play through it any longer. We’ll wait and see what the test results yield, but there’s a chance that the 35-year-old outfielder may wind up on the injured list. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:10 pm

    • Mark Canha scratched Friday with sore left hip
Mark Canha was scratched from the Tigers’ starting lineup on Friday due to soreness in his left hip.

Advice: The 35-year-old outfielder is considered day-to-day. Andy Ibanez will replace him in the team’s starting lineup at second base with Colt Keith shifting to the designated hitter spot. The Tigers are already without Kerry Carpenter (back) for a significant amount of time, so they really can’t afford to have Canha to be out for long. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:18 pm

    • Scratched Friday
Canha was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Red Sox due to left hip soreness.

Advice: Canha was slated to serve as the designated hitter and bat in the cleanup spot Friday, but the 35-year-old was removed from the lineup due to the injury. Colt Keith will shift to DH and Andy Ibanez will start at second base, while Gio Urshela moves up to fourth in the batting order against Red Sox right-hander Tanner Houck. • Goes 4.2 innings vs. Cubs
Ashcraft didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Cubs, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: It's the fifth straight start that Ashcraft's failed to record an out in the sixth inning -- he's allowed at least three runs in each of those outings. The 26-year-old right-hander is 4-3 on the year with a 4.76 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 47:21 K:BB across 11 starts (58.2 innings). The Reds will look for more length out of Ashcraft in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week in Colorado. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:16 pm
    • Graham Ashcraft pulled in fifth versus Cubs
Graham Ashcraft yielded three runs in 4 2/3 innings Friday in his start versus the Cubs.

Advice: Ashcraft’s velocity was down again today. He’s averaged 96 mph with his cutter in some of his starts this season, but he came in at 95.3 and 94.8 mph in his previous two starts and 94.1 mph today. His ERA has climbed from 3.63 to 4.76 over his last five outings, so the Reds could turn to Nick Martinez in his spot or give Carson Spiers a shot. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:40 pm
    • Astros don’t provide update on Cristian Javier
Astros’ manager Joe Espada did not give an update on right-handers Cristian Javier and Jose Urquidy on Friday, aside from saying that he’s giving both pitchers space while they are awaiting second opinions.

Advice: If that’s not discouraging enough, Espada also refused to comment when asked if the pitchers’ UCL’s were intact. Lovely. The Astros should provide full updates on the status of both hurlers in the coming days once they get their second opinions, but it doesn’t sound good. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:16 pm

    • Logs 20th steal
Caballero went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts, two runs scored and a stolen base Thursday against the Athletics.

Advice: This line is indicative of Caballero's skill set, as he's striking out at a 29.3 percent clip and has just a .306 on-base percentage. However, he has already racked up 20 stolen bases, only the second player to hit that mark at this point in the campaign. Caballero's playing time could be in danger upon the return of Taylor Walls (hip), but for now, he fills a key role for both the Rays and fantasy managers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:34 am
