    Advice: Crochet made his first appearance since being activated from the injured list Wednesday after battling a shoulder injury. He was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the eighth inning, but he allowed an inherited runner to score after allowing a single and walk. He gave up a run of his own two batters later, so the performance left plenty to be desired.     Advice: Rodriguez popped a go-ahead home run in the sixth inning, the third long ball of his career.     Advice: Davis hit his sixth homer of the season in the fifth inning, which also marked his first extra-base hit since being activated from the injured list Sept. 16. In five games since his return, he has a 65 percent strikeout rate with only one walk and three hits in 19 at-bats. Since rejoining the big-league club Aug 23., Ortiz has a 5.14 ERA and 1.171 WHIP with only a 21:20 K:BB across 28 frames.     Buxton (knee) went 1-for-4 during a rehab assignment Thursday for Triple-A St. Paul. He had a scheduled off day Friday and will play again for St. Paul on Saturday, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

    Advice: It's not clear when or if he'll play in center field again. If Buxton can stay healthy (his last rehab stint was shut down after two games due to a flareup of the patella tendinitis in his right knee), it's not clear if he'll be able to get enough at-bats to show he can be activated for the playoffs with the minor league season ending this weekend. While a natural infielder, he's made his first two big-league starts in center field, which could be bad news for Mitch Haniger and Michael Conforto over the last week-plus of the season.
