• Santiago Espinal delivers pinch-hit homer in win
Santiago Espinal hit a two-run homer as a pinch-hitter to help propel the Reds past the Cubs 5-4 on Friday.

Advice: Espinal hit for Will Benson against lefty Drew Smyly in the seventh and drove the first pitch he saw 385 feet to left-center. It would have been a homer in nine out of the 30 ballparks, says Statcast, Espinal is now batting .202/.261/.303 in 137 plate appearances for the Reds. Rotoworld Today, 2:40 pm

  • David Hamilton starts at SS again
David Hamilton is starting at shortstop for the Red Sox on Thursday against the Tigers.

Advice: Hamilton has now started five of the last six games in the middle infield for Boston as the Red Sox have transitioned Ceddanne Rafaela back to the outfield. Hamilton struggled defensively in his first chance in 2024 after being thrust into a starting role following the injury to Trevor Story. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said he intentionally kept Hamilton on the MLB roster to just allow him to take a breath, and Hamilton has rewarded his confidence by hitting .311/.380/.489 in 17 games in May with one home run, eight runs scored, and six steals. The 26-year-old has game-changing speed, so if he’s going to play regularly, he’s worth a gamble in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:56 pm

  • Starting to heat up
Donovan went 3-for-4 with a double and a hit-by-pitch in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: This was Donovan's third multi-hit effort in the last five games. He's now gone 17-for-49 (.347) over his last 13 contests, though he has zero home runs and six doubles in that span. The 27-year-old is up to a .245/.326/.382 slash line with four homers, 25 RBI, 26 runs scored, 14 doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 233 plate appearances this season. Donovan's lack of steals and mediocre sprint speed -- in the 42nd percentile, per Statcast -- makes him an odd fit for the leadoff role, but that's where he's hit for most of the campaign. Masyn Winn has also seen time at leadoff versus left-handed pitchers recently, but Donovan remains atop the order versus righties. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:28 pm

  • Four hits in twin bill
Gonzales went 4-for-9 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI across both games of Wednesday's doubleheader split with the Tigers.

Advice: The Pirates were blanked in the opener and managed only three hits in total off Tarik Skubal and the Detroit bullpen, but Gonzales had one of them. The 25-year-old second baseman really came to life in the second contest, as he launched a solo shot off Keider Montero in the fourth inning and was a key part of a 10-2 rout by Pittsburgh. Gonzales has hit safely in 13 of the last 15 games as he solidifies his spot in the Bucs' lineup, batting .328 (19-for-58) over that stretch with three homers, a steal, nine runs and 14 RBI. • Back to bench role
Espinal is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Espinal started at third base in all three games of the Reds' weekend series versus the Dodgers, but he's been a spectator for all three games of the series with St. Louis now that Jeimer Candelario is healthy again after missing time with a neck injury. The Reds will likely to continue to make room for Espinal in the lineup when the team faces left-handed pitchers, but his opportunities to play against right-handers will become more infrequent now that the team has all of its infielders available save for Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) and Matt McLain (shoulder), the latter of whom has been on the injured list all season. • Leads with three RBI
Schneider went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one walk, three RBI and one run in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Schneider batted leadoff for the 10th time in 11 games and provided a spark atop the lineup as Toronto took home its second win in a row. Overall, Schneider has posted an .819 OPS in 13 starts as a leadoff man this season, and so long as he continues to excel in that capacity, he should stick as the Blue Jays' table setter even as George Springer is beginning to emerge from his season-long slumber. • Davis Schneider swats two doubles, drives in three
Davis Schneider went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI in Tuesday’s win over the White Sox.

Advice: Schneider doubled to kick off the game, but his second double, which came in the second inning, drove in two runs to give the Blue Jays an early 3-0 lead. He would add another RBI in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly to score George Springer, upping his RBI total to 28 on the season. Schneider is hitting a solid .255 on the year and is slashing .250/.368/.487 this month. While he’s not hitting for an overly high average, he’s offered decent power and an ability to drive in runs. • Officially activated
The Yankees reinstated LeMahieu (foot) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: A fracture of LeMahieu's right foot has kept him on the injured list all season, but he will return to make his season debut Tuesday while starting at third base and batting ninth. The 35-year-old veteran will act as New York's primary third baseman going forward, though he's expected to receive a handful of off days initially as the Yankees attempt to ease him back into action. • Yankees activate DJ LeMahieu for season debut
Yankees activated INF DJ LeMahieu from the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The saga is finally over. LeMahieu will make his season debut on Tuesday night following a two-mont absence recovering from a fracture in his right foot, and a couple setbacks along the way. The 35-year-old veteran figures to draw most of his starts at the hot corner moving forward and bat near the bottom of New York’s lineup. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:39 pm
