• Jose Altuve tallies three hits, steal in victory
Jose Altuve went 3-for-5 with an RBI and also stole a base on Thursday, leading the Astros to an 8-2 victory over the Guardians.

Advice: Altuve’s latest three-hit performance, which also included a seventh-inning RBI single, boosted his batting average to a stratospheric .352 (45-for-128) mark through 31 games. The 33-year-old veteran also picked up his 299th career stolen base in this one. He’s managed to stay healthy and has been one of the most impactful contributors in the entire fantasy landscape this season. Unreal. Rotoworld Today, 8:17 pm

  • Jon Singleton homers, plates three in victory
Jon Singleton went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Thursday in the Astros’ win over the Guardians.

Advice: Singleton took Guardians lefty starter Logan Allen deep into the sixth inning with a go-ahead blast, his second round-tripper of the season. The 32-year-old journeyman also added an RBI sacrifice fly in the ensuing frame to cap off an eight-run offensive night for Houston’s lineup. He’s taken over as the Astros’ primary first baseman with José Abreu jettisoned to the minors and figures to at least continue hitting for some over-the-fence pop if he’s going to play everyday. • Spencer Arrighetti lasts 5 2/3 Thursday in no-decision
Spencer Arrighetti allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Guardians.

Advice: It’s the deepest Arrighetti has worked into a contest since being called up last month from Triple-A Sugar Land. The 24-year-old top pitching prospect struck out six batters, and also handed out three free passes, throwing a career-high 94 pitches (62 strikes) in this one. He’s made some definite strides over his last two outings on the heels of a rocky debut back on April 10. He’s slated to take the ball on Wednesday in a tough road matchup against the Yankees. • Logan Allen serves up homer in loss to Astros
Logan Allen was charged with three runs (two earned) over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the Astros.

Advice: Allen was tagged for seven hits, including a go-ahead two-run shot by Jon Singleton before departing in the sixth inning. He notched five strikeouts and only issued one walk. He mustered only 10 swinging strikes and finished with a lackluster 21 percent CSW. He’ll bring an inflated 5.11 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 31/12 K/BB ratio across 37 innings (seven starts) into a home outing on Tuesday against the division-rival Tigers. Rotoworld Today, 8:07 pm

  • Checkup coming soon
McLain (shoulder) is about a week away from a follow-up appointment that will give the Reds a better idea on his timetable, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: If all goes well with his exam, McLain could start working out at the Reds' spring training facility in Arizona. He doesn't have an official return date yet. "It's still way too early to determine a time when he would get back to us, but the goal would still be early August ideally," manager David Bell said. Rotowire.com Today, 6:43 pm

  • Could return Friday
The Reds expect Stephenson (hand) to return Friday against the Orioles, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Stephenson is hitting .231/.338/.415 with three homers and 10 RBI, but his Statcast metrics (20.4% barrel rate, 93.4 mph average exit velocity) suggest better results could be forthcoming. Moreover, Stephenson has been considerably better than his backup Luke Maile, who is hitting just .163/.250/.256 so far on the season. Rotowire.com Today, 6:23 pm
  • Mike Yastrzemski swats solo homer against Boston
Mike Yastrzemski hit a solo homer in the Giants’ win over the Red Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Yastrzemski got the Giants on the board with a solo shot off Josh Winckowski in the third inning. The 33-year-old left for a pinch-hitter after Boston brought in lefty Brennan Bernardino, but at least he was able to pick up his third homer and 12th RBI before exiting. Rotoworld Today, 2:16 pm
  • Camilo Doval picks up sixth save against Red Sox
Camilo Doval struck out a batter in a scoreless inning of work while picking up a save Thursday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Doval is now up to six saves on the season. The right-hander didn’t allow a hit while picking up a strikeout, and he pounded the zone with 11-of-14 pitches going for strikes. Doval has had some shaky moments in 2024, but the right-hander remains locked into a closing role for a team that should provide plenty of opportunites. Rotoworld Today, 2:16 pm
  • Josh Winckowski surrenders one run over 4 1/3
Josh Winckowski held the Giants to one run while going 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision Thursday.

Advice: He walked two and wasn’t able to pick up a strikeout. It was far from a dominant start for Winckowski, but the 25-year-old was mostly effective even without much swing-and-miss. The only run came on a solo homer from Mike Yastrzemski in the third. Winckowski has been able to get the job done in his last two starts, but he has yet to go deep enough to qualify for a victory. That along with the quality of the Atlanta lineup makes him a risky streaming option against the Bravos next week. Rotoworld Today, 2:16 pm
