    • Sitting again Saturday
Hoerner (hand) isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

Advice: Hoerner sat out Friday's game after getting hit in the hand by a pitch Thursday, and the issue seems to still be bothering him ahead of Saturday's contest. David Bote will start at second base and bat seventh while Hoerner recovers. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago

    • Nico Hoerner remains out Saturday with hand issue
Nico Hoerner (hand) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: Additional X-rays on Hoerner’s hand were reportedly inconclusive on Friday after he had trouble gripping and swinging a bat. The 27-year-old was hit by a pitch during Thursday’s series opener and will sit out his second straight contest on Saturday afternoon. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for the moment, but it wouldn’t be a total shock to see him land on the injured list at some point this weekend. Rotoworld 54 minutes ago

    • Sitting again Saturday
Seager (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Seager will sit for a second straight game after injuring his left hamstring Wednesday against the Tigers. Like Friday, Seager will be available to pinch hit Saturday, per Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com. Josh Smith will shift over to shortstop while Ezequiel Duran gets the start at third base against Giants right-hander Spencer Howard. Rotowire.com Today, 9:42 am

    • Corey Seager out Saturday due to hamstring injury
Corey Seager (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Giants.

Advice: The encouraging news here for fantasy managers is that Seager hasn’t landed on the injured list yet after suffering a mild left hamstring injury earlier this week. The 30-year-old fantasy stalwart will miss his second straight contest on Saturday afternoon and remains day-to-day for now. There should be some clarity on his status at some point later this weekend if he’s unable to get back in the lineup. Rotoworld Today, 9:41 am

    • IL stint not expected
Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Seager (hamstring) is not expected to require a stint on the injured list, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Seager injured his hamstring Wednesday and sat out Friday's game after Thursday's off-day. Bochy doesn't anticipate an IL stint, but Seager might need a couple of days to get back to the field. Rotowire.com Today, 6:25 am

    • Stuck with loss in quality start
Steele (0-3) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings as the Cubs were downed 3-2 by the Reds. He struck out seven.

Advice: The southpaw pitched well in his second quality start of the season, generating 30 called or swinging strikes among his 90 pitches, but a lack of run support kept him out of the win column once again. Steele appears to be rounding into form after missing all of April with a hamstring strain, and over his last three starts he sports a 1.89 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 20:6 K:BB through 19 innings. He'll look for that first victory of 2024 in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Tampa Bay. Rotowire.com Today, 6:17 am

    • Mason Miller nets first career victory on Friday
Mason Miller fired a perfect ninth inning on Friday against the Blue Jays to pick up his first win of the season.

Advice: Miller’s fastball velocity was down slightly in this one as he failed to touch triple-digits on three fastballs, but was still averaging a sizzling 99.4 mph in this one. He needed just 12 pitches to strike out a pair of batters in a flawless ninth inning before JJ Bleday delivered a walk-off homer in the bottom of the frame to give him his first win of the year. The hard-thrwoing 25-year-old former top prospect has blossomed into arguably the best reliever in baseball this season with 12 saves to go along with a stellar 2.20 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 54/11 K/BB ratio across 28 2/3 innings (22 appearances). • Keeps slugging Friday
Diaz went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's 7-1 win over the Angels.

Advice: Diaz opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning and added a two-run homer in the seventh. He's gone yard in four straight contests, an impressive run of power after he went 39 games without a homer prior to this surge. The catcher is at a .258/.285/.416 slash line, seven long balls, 32 RBI, 22 runs scored and 10 doubles over 56 contests. With Kyle Tucker (lower leg) going on the injured list Friday, Yordan Alvarez has seen more time in the field, giving the Astros the option of moving Diaz to designated hitter rather than having him at catcher full-time in the short term. • Secures first career win
Miller (1-0) struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the win Friday over the Blue Jays.

Advice: The win was Miller's first in the majors, which came in his 32nd career appearance. He kept the game tied at 1-1 in the top of the ninth inning before JJ Bleday swatted a walk-off solo home run in the Athletics' half of the frame. While Miller's been scored on in three of his last six outings, he's still sporting a 2.20 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 54:11 K:BB through 28.2 innings this season. He's also gone 12-for-13 in save chances for a team that hasn't had a ton of leads to protect. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:34 pm
