    Advice: Three straight singles in the sixth inning kept Irvin from recording his fifth quality start of the season, but the southpaw did tie his season high in strikeouts. He hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last 10 appearances (eight starts) dating back to April 15, posting a 1.88 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 36:7 K:BB through 52.2 innings over that stretch.     Mason Miller fired a perfect ninth inning on Friday against the Blue Jays to pick up his first win of the season.

    Advice: Miller’s fastball velocity was down slightly in this one as he failed to touch triple-digits on three fastballs, but was still averaging a sizzling 99.4 mph in this one. He needed just 12 pitches to strike out a pair of batters in a flawless ninth inning before JJ Bleday delivered a walk-off homer in the bottom of the frame to give him his first win of the year. The hard-thrwoing 25-year-old former top prospect has blossomed into arguably the best reliever in baseball this season with 12 saves to go along with a stellar 2.20 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 54/11 K/BB ratio across 28 2/3 innings (22 appearances).     Chad Green surrendered a walk-off solo homer on Friday and was saddled with a loss in relief against the Athletics.

    Advice: Green was called upon to work the bottom of the ninth inning in a tie ballgame out in Oakland and wound up surrendering a walk-off homer to JJ Bleday on his very first pitch of the outing. The 33-year-old has stepped into a more prominent high-leverage role with closer Jordan Romano on the injured list, but it’s been Yimi García primarily handling the closing duties over the last week.     Hogan Harris tossed six scoreless innings on Friday in a no-decision against the Blue Jays.

    Advice: Harris has been quietly effective for the Athletics over the last few weeks, allowing just one earned run over 11 2/3 innings in a pair of starts since May 30. He struck out three and allowed just five baserunners (three hits and a pair of walks) over six shutout frames in this one, but was forced to settle for a no-decision after Oakland’s bullpen gave up the lead. The unheralded 27-year-old lefty will bring a sparkling 2.21 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 18/8 K/BB ratio across 20 1/3 innings (four appearances, two starts) into a road tilt on Wednesday afternoon against the Padres.     Michael King struck out five over five shutout innings on Friday in a win over the Diamondbacks.

    Advice: King received double-digit run support from San Diego’s offense and was able to cruise to a relatively easy win, scattering four hits and one walk over five spotless frames. The 29-year-old righty has been phenomenal of late, allowing three earned runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts since May 4. He’ll carry a sharp 3.58 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 83/32 K/BB ratio across 78 innings (14 appearances, 13 starts) into an extremely favorable matchup on Wednesday afternoon against the rebuilding Athletics.     Anderson (3-1) struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the win over the Mariners on Friday.

    Advice: It didn't look like any Royals pitcher would be in line for the win after the Mariners put up seven runs in the first inning, but Anderson was the beneficiary of a late rally that ended in a walk-off. He's had mixed results since the start of May, allowing seven runs (six earned) with a 12:6 K:BB over his last 12.1 innings. For the year, Anderson has a 3.86 ERA despite a 1.63 WHIP and 17:12 K:BB across 23.1 innings while adding a save and two holds. The right-hander's numbers are far from elite, but he's done a moderate job at preventing runs for a bullpen that is 21st in the majors with a 4.21 ERA this year.
