• Griffin Canning gives up three runs in first win
Griffin Canning yielded three runs in five innings Tuesday in a win over the Orioles.

Advice: Canning is on the board after going 0-3 with an 8.05 ERA in his first four starts. The injury likelihood remains higher here than it is with more pitchers, but Canning should prove better than this in the long run. It’s encouraging that his velocity has been higher in his last two starts than it was in his first three, though he’s still down a tad more than one mph from last year. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago

  • Grayson Rodriguez roughed up by Angels in defeat
Grayson Rodriguez was pummeled for seven runs and 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Angels.

Advice: Rodriguez blamed the poor showing on leaving too many pitches down the middle of the plate. He got 14 missed swings and seven strikeouts, but 10 of the 14 balls in play against him were hard hit. It’s his first loss of the year, leaving him 3-1 with a 4.45 ERA. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago
  • Logan Webb shuts out Mets for eight in win
Logan Webb scattered six hits over eight scoreless innings Tuesday in the Giants’ 5-1 takedown of the Mets.

Advice: Webb was a groundball machine while allowing four singles and two doubles tonight. He walked one and struck out four. That the Giants have Nick Ahmed at short and Matt Chapman at third is definitely paying dividends this season, particularly when the team’s ace is on the mound. Rotoworld Today, 10:02 pm

  • Severino suffers through one bad inning in loss
Luis Severino surrendered three runs in six innings Tuesday in a loss to the Giants.

Advice: Severino didn’t have much luck tonight; all of the runs came on four singles in the fifth, and only of those was a hard-hit ball. He allowed just one other single and no walks over the other five innings, and he struck out five. He’ll take a 2.67 ERA into his next start versus the Cubs. Rotoworld Today, 10:02 pm

  • Fans seven in loss
Dunning (2-2) took the loss Tuesday against Seattle, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks across 4.1 innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Dunning was hit hard Tuesday, surrendering four extra-base hits, including a pair of two-run home runs by Julio Rodriguez and Cal Raleigh. He's allowed a home run in all five of his starts this season and is tied for the second-most homers allowed in MLB (seven). Despite his power troubles, Dunning has been a quality source of strikeouts, punching out seven batters in three of his five starts this season. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Reds on Sunday. • Michael King gets roughed up in fourth in loss
Michael King was tagged for six runs — four earned — in 3 2/3 innings by the Rockies on Tuesday.

Advice: King’s first start at Coors Field was going OK until the fourth, when two singles, an error and a grand slam gave the Rockies the lead. Alas, that still wasn’t the end of it, as King went on to allow a single, a double, an intentional walk and an unintentional walk to push in another run. He was finally pulled at that point, and Stephen Kolek was able to strand the bases loaded. King dropped to 2-2 with a 4.11 ERA. He’s still a decent enough play versus the Phillies next time out. • Goes 6.2 scoreless
Gilbert (2-0) picked up the win Tuesday against Texas, allowing two hits and four walks across 6.2 scoreless innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Gilbert surpassed six innings pitched for the fourth time in five starts this season, notching his first scoreless outing of the campaign. He battled issues with command and walked a pair of batters in the first but otherwise kept himself out of danger. He was removed from the contest with runners on first and third but was saved by Ryne Stanek, who forced Leody Taveras into an inning-ending groundout. Gilbert has posted four quality starts this season and boasts the most innings pitched (33.2) of anybody with fewer than six starts. He's scheduled for a Sunday start against Arizona. • Logab Gilbert combines with three on shutout
Logan Gilbert pitched two-hit ball for 6 2/3 innings as the Mariners shut out the Rangers 4-0 on Tuesday.

Advice: Gilbert was wild early and ended up walking four, but it didn’t matter. He topped out at 98.5 mph tonight while striking out six and lowering his ERA to 1.87. He’s due to face the Diamondbacks next. Rotoworld Today, 9:15 pm

  • Dane Dunning gives up two homers in defeat
Dane Dunning yielded four runs in 4 1/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Dunning struck out seven, but two-run homers from Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodríguez ruined his night. Dunning has now given up seven homers in 27 1/3 innings for the year, which is why his ERA sits at 4.61 in spite of a nice 29/6 K/BB ratio. He’s an occasional streaming option in mixed leagues, but he doesn’t seem like a great play at home against Cincinnati this weekend. Rotoworld Today, 9:15 pm
