• Six Ks in no-decision
Flaherty came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 7-5 loss to the Rays, giving up four runs on seven hits over five innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.

Advice: The veteran righty stumbled early, giving up a solo shot to Randy Arozarena in the first inning and three more runs in the second, but he settled down after that and the Tigers took him off the hook for a loss in the top of the sixth. Flaherty generated 30 called or swinging strikes among his 97 pitches, but he's having difficulty keeping the ball in the park -- he's served up a homer in all five of his starts, fueling a 4.91 ERA that isn't in sync with his 1.16 WHIP or 36:4 K:BB through 29.1 innings. He lines up for a potential revenge game in his next trip to the mound, a home matchup early next week against the Cardinals. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago
  • Getting another start
Myers is slated to start Sunday's game against the Yankees at American Family Field, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.

Advice: With Wade Miley (elbow), DL Hall (knee) and Jakob Junis (shoulder) all still on the injured list without clear timelines to return, Myers will end up sticking around for a second turn through the Milwaukee rotation. The 25-year-old had been a standout performer for Triple-A Nashville prior to getting called up this week and held his own in his MLB debut Tuesday, taking the loss despite limiting the Pirates to one run on four hits and one walk over five innings. • Roughed up in Dodgers rematch
Irvin (1-2) took the loss Wednesday, surrendering six runs on 12 hits and a walk over 4.2 innings as the Nationals were routed 11-2. He struck out three.

Advice: The 27-year-old righty blanked the Dodgers over six innings in his prior start, but the NL West powerhouses weren't fooled a second time. Irvin got the hook after 103 pitches (66 strikes) in his worst outing yet this season, and he'll carry a 4.55 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB through 27.2 innings into his next start, which lines up for a less scary road matchup against the Marlins early next week. • Collects first career win
Knack (1-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 11-2 rout of the Nationals, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The 26-year-old rookie recorded his first career quality start along with his first MLB win, tossing 59 of 94 pitches for strikes and retiring the last 13 batters he faced after walking in a run in the second inning. Knack is making a case to stick in the Dodgers' rotation even after Walker Buehler (elbow) is declared ready for his 2024 debut, especially with Gavin Stone and James Paxton having issues in the early going. • Fans seven in loss
Anderson (2-3) took the loss against the Orioles on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over five frames. He struck out seven.

Advice: Anderson struggled with his command in the loss, hitting Gunnar Henderson with a pitch to open the game before going on to issue a season-high four walks over his five innings of work. However, he also managed to post a season-high seven strikeouts while inducing 14 swings and misses on the afternoon. Despite taking his third loss of the season, Anderson has actually been a solid arm for the Angels early in the campaign and is yet to allow more than three runs in a start. He's also gone at least seven innings in three of his five outings and still carries a shiny 1.78 ERA heading into his next start. Rotowire.com Today, 5:33 am
  • Paul Skenes dominates again Wednesday at Triple-A
Pirates RHP prospect Paul Skenes struck out seven and was charged with two runs (one earned) over 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: Skenes finally gave up an earned run, which sent his ERA soaring to an astronomical 0.53 in the process. The 21-year-old top pitching prospect built up his workload to 71 pitches (50 strikes) and continues to flash triple-digit velocity with ease. It’s difficult to understand Pittsburgh’s rationale at this juncture behind having him continue building volume in the minor leagues instead of contributing in the major leagues. Regardless of when the Pirates finally decide to call him up, Skenes appears poised to make a significant impact for fantasy managers and should be rostered in all formats. • Fans 10, matches career high
Kremer (1-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Angels, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over 5.1 innings while striking out 10.

Advice: Kremer shut out the Angels over the first five innings before surrendering a solo homer to Mike Trout in the sixth, followed by a single to Nolan Schanuel, which would lead to the right-hander being relieved by Jacob Webb. Kremer dominated Los Angeles' lineup with his four-seamer throughout the day while matching his career high with 10 strikeouts. He's now allowed three or fewer hits in three of his five starts to open the season, though he's also given up at least one home run in all but one of those outings. Rotowire.com Today, 5:21 am
  • Tosses 52 pitches on rehab
Scherzer (back) allowed three runs on five hits while striking out four over 2.1 innings in a rehab appearance for Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

Advice: Scherzer kicked off a rehab assignment Wednesday, giving up a pair of home runs while running his pitch count to 52, including 11 swinging strikes. That's in line with his progression after throwing 40 in his most recent live batting practice session. Scherzer's velocity was down across the board, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, but that is to be expected from the right-hander, who is working his way back from offseason back surgery. • Fans six in no-decision
Manaea did not factor into the decision in a win over the Giants on Wednesday, hurling 4.2 shutout innings while allowing four hits and four walks. He struck out six.

Advice: Manaea struck out the side in the first inning but got himself into trouble in the second after giving up two walks and a single to open the frame. Fortunately for the right-hander he was still able to work his way out of it without seeing any runs come home, while also working his way through a similar jam in the third. Manaea issued a season-high four walks in the contest and has surrendered multiple walks in all five of his outings so far to open the campaign. However, he's also limited opposing offenses to one or fewer runs three of his five starts. Rotowire.com Today, 4:30 am
