      Craig Kimbrel returned to action and earned a save on Friday, striking out all three batters he faced versus the Reds.

      Advice: It was Kimbrel's first appearance in five days, as the veteran right-hander was dealing with back soreness. He certainly didn't show any signs of rust Friday, striking out the side to close out a shutout victory for his eighth save this season. Kimbrel had blown consecutive save chances before he was sidelined, allowing three runs in just a third of an inning.       Arozarena went 1-for-2 with three walks, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 10-8 win over the Mets.

      Advice: The 29-year-old outfielder has had a brutal start to 2024 that includes what would be a career-high 29.1 percent strikeout rate and a career-low .455 OPS, but Arozarena came through with a solid performance in a wild win. His fourth-inning long ball off Dedniel Nunez was his fourth homer in 32 games to go along with four steals, and Arozarena has contributed a respectable 14 runs and 15 RBI despite his woeful .145/.242/.265 slash line.       Adam gave up a run on two hits and struck out one in the ninth inning Friday to record his second save of the season in a 10-8 win over the Mets.

      Advice: The right-hander has collected saves in back-to-back appearances, but he's looked a bit shaky both times. Adam served up a solo shot to Brett Baty on Friday before giving up a two-out double to Brandon Nimmo that brought the tying run to the plate. Adam's 1.80 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB through 15 innings on the season remain impressive, but with Pete Fairbanks (forearm) set to begin a rehab assignment next week, he should return to setup duties before long.       Cruz went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies.

      Advice: The 25-year-old shortstop had gone 17 straight games without a homer coming into Friday and nearly made it 18. but he got hold of a Jalen Beeks changeup in the ninth inning to make things close for the Pirates. It was Cruz's fourth long ball of the season and his first off a southpaw, and the RBI were his first since April 22.       Oneil Cruz hit a two-run homer to provide the only scoring for the Pirates against the Rockies on Friday.

      Advice: Unfortunately, the Pirates were down three in the ninth at the time. To go along with his 111.7-mph homer, Cruz also had a 111-3 mph line drive, that unfortunately was hit right at the center fielder, and a 103.3-mph groundout.       Randy Arozarena blasted a 445-foot home run on Friday, helping to power the Rays to a 10-8 victory over the Mets.

      Advice: Wearing the Rays’ new city connect uniforms for the first time, the slumping 29-year-old outfielder appeared to be re-energized. He drew a walk in the third inning and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Alex Jackson. Arozarena then demolished a 1-1 fastball from Dedniel Nunez in the fourth inning, belting his 445-foot (109.1 mph) solo shot. He also walked in the sixth and eighth innings, finishing the night 1-for-2 with a pair of runs scored. Even with the strong night though, Arozarena is still hitting a pitiful .145/.242/.265 on the season with four homers, 10 RBI and four stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:41 pm

      Jason Adam picked up his second save of the season on Friday night, despite allowing a run in the ninth inning against the Mets.

      Advice: The 32-year-old right-hander came on with a three-run lead to protect, but things got a bit tighter as he surrendered a one-out solo homer to Brett Baty. He also allowed a two-out double to Brandon Nimmo that brought the tying run to the plate, but was able to retire Starling Marte on strikes to end it. He has now converted two of his first three save chances while filling in for the injured Pete Fairbanks.       Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw a successful bullpen session on Friday.

      Advice: The 25-year-old hurler will likely repeat the process another time or two before facing live hitters, but he’s trending in the right direction.
