    • Blake Snell strikes out 10 in rehab start Friday
Blake Snell (adductor) recorded 10 strikeouts over five hitless innings on Friday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: He’s ready. The plan all along had been for Snell to rejoin the Giants’ rotation next week as long as this start went well, and he was nearly perfect, allowing just one walk over five frames. The 31-year-old reigning NL Cy Young Award winner should slot back into San Francisco’s rotation against the Pirates in Pittsburgh next week. Prior to landing on the injured list, Snell had gone 0-3 with a bloated 11.57 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 12/5 K/BB ratio across 11 2/3 innings (three starts). Rotoworld Today, 3:30 am

    • Belts another leadoff homer
Betts went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Friday's 7-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Betts' last two homers have been of the leadoff variety, and they're his only two long balls in May. He's hitting .283 this month, dropping his season-long batting average to a still-stunning .341 through 47 contests. Betts has added eight homers, 29 RBI, 40 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 11 doubles and three triples over 218 plate appearances while serving as the everyday leadoff hitter. • Beginning assignment Tuesday
Murphy (oblique) will likely begin a rehab assignment Tuesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Murphy has been on the injured list since Opening Day, but he has now been cleared to test his strained left oblique in a competitive environment. Considering the 29-year-old backstop has missed nearly two months, he will likely require an extended stay in the minors, but he should reclaim his role as Atlanta's everyday catcher once he returns. • Rebounds vs. Nats
Wheeler (5-3) earned the win Friday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks over 7.1 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: It was an encouraging return to form for Wheeler after he was tagged for six runs over four innings by Miami in his last start. Before that outing, Wheeler had allowed just one earned run over four starts (25.1 innings). He's won five of his last six starts while lowering his ERA to 2.52 with a 0.97 WHIP and 71:19 K:BB over 60.2 innings this season. Wheeler is currently in line for a home matchup with the Rangers in his next outing. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:20 pm

    • Zack Wheeler fans six in victory over Nationals
Zack Wheeler picked up his fifth victory of the season on Friday night, holding the Nationals to just two runs on three hits over 7 1/3 strong innings of work.

Advice: The 33-year-old right-hander racked up six strikeouts on the night while issuing three free passes. The Nationals’ scoring in the contest came on a pair of RBI doubles — one by Keibert Ruiz in the second inning and another off the bat of Eddie Rosario in the fifth. Aside from that though, Wheeler was in complete control. He got 17 swings and misses on 104 pitches on the night — 10 on his fastball alone — while posting a CSW of 28 percent. Now 5-3 on the season, Wheeler will carry a 2.52 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 71/19 K/BB ratio (60 2/3 innings) into Thursday’s showdown against the Rangers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:00 pm

    • Placed on IL with oblique strain
The Dodgers placed Muncy on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a Grade 1 right oblique strain.

Advice: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated that Muncy had sustained the strain during batting practice before Thursday's game, and the veteran third baseman will not swing a bat for a few days, per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports. Before landing on the IL, Muncy was slashing .223/.323/.475 with nine home runs and 28 RBI over 167 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:03 pm

    • Dodgers place Max Muncy (oblique) on 10-day IL
Dodgers placed INF Max Muncy on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain.

Advice: Well that certainly came out of nowhere. The 33-year-old slugger has been a very capable run-producer in the middle of the Dodgers’ lineup this season — slashing .223/.323/.475 with nine homers and 28 RBI through his first 40 games He’s going to miss at least a couple of weeks — and it could wind up being longer depending on the severity of the strain. Miguel Vargas was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:01 pm

    • Arraez back in the lineup Friday
Arraez is back in the Padres lineup, hitting leadoff against the Braves on Friday.

Advice: Arraez had a routine day off on Wednesday as the Padres faced Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber. He’s back in there as the designated hitter and leadoff man for Friday’s game. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:51 pm

    • Still hoping to avoid injured list
Hoerner (hamstring) remains day-to-day and the Cubs are still hoping he can avoid the injured list, Ryan Herrera of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Hoerner is missing a fourth straight start Friday after still feeling something in his left hamstring Thursday, per manager Craig Counsell. While the skipper expressed hope that an IL won't be needed, he conceded that a move would be on the table if the issue continues to linger. With Dansby Swanson (knee) also out, the Cubs have been going with Miles Mastrobuoni and Nick Madrigal as their middle infield duo. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:37 am
